Overall Satisfaction with Workfront

Workfront allows us to streamline requests/reviews/approvals as well as our internal workflow. Our clients and our team are heavy users of Workfront and while I don't believe we are (yet) using it to its fullest potential, it has made a positive impact on our efficiency. Are there a few things I'd change? Sure. But these are probably unique to the wants/needs of our team vs. Workfront as a whole. We evaluated (and tested) a number of solutions and Workfront was the closest match for our needs.

Pros

  • Streamlining requests/reviews/approvals
  • Streamlining internal workflow processes
  • Centralizing all projects in ONE location

Cons

  • Search feature isn't great (i.e. will search for a keyword from a project name and that project won't come up).
  • The app leaves a lot to be desired...to get things done remotely, I often need to login to the web interface on my phone because the app is not robust enough to allow the same control.
  • Would love the ability to clone/copy projects or previous requests (I have some recurring requests that are similar, sometimes identical and it would save me a ton of time if I could just find a previous one, clone it, and update it with the new info).
  • Would love the ability for Workfront to "assign" project codes (not just a number).
  • Notifications sometimes don't work as expected.

  • Ensures projets aren't "forgotten"
FileMaker was rather cumbersome. Basecamp was good, but lacked some features. Workfront was the most robust tool we evaluated. Love that it's cloud-based and love that there are many features (some we may never use, but some we plan to further explore). So, it can grow with us.
Workfront has helped provide visibility into what the entire team is working on, which helps us better manage resources and timelines. Having all projects in a centralized location provides a quick snapshot as far as what is on our plates, which helps for planning purposes.
Our team did not use the professional services.
I only gave it an 8 because of the areas where I feel it's lacking. Overall, Workfront is the best project management software we tested. I think it's scalable to such an extent that it could work for most any type of scenario.
