Overall Satisfaction with Workplace by Facebook

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Workplace by Facebook is used across the entire organization. It closes some communication gaps and reduces the amount of email by replacing the interaction over email with a social media platform format. It has improved discussions and reduced the number of emails. I think that it is a more relevant tool for the younger generation - more inclusive of those who aren't as fond of emails.

Pros and Cons

Pros

It is user-friendly, as most individuals are familiar with Facebook. The look and feel are the same.
It reduces the number of emails, as people can choose to post communications instead of maintaining a distribution list.
It fosters participation and collaboration.

Cons

It is not a project collaboration tool. I understand that this is not the main intent, but it should offer better project-related collaboration features since it is a professional version.
In light of the latest news, I find it hard to trust Facebook with internal proprietary communication.

Return on Investment

I don't have such information. My company is very large and this type of information is way above my pay grade.

Alternatives Considered

Chatter

I prefer Workplace by Facebook as it is a more familiar and more robust platform. You can also do live video streaming, voice and video calls, chats, unlimited file, photo, video storage, great desktop notification features, etc. I tend to use Workplace by Facebook more than Chatter when I want to see what is happening around the organization.

Support Rating

I never heard any issues with Facebook support. Every time that I required support I received a reply from the company. Facebook is a very familiar tool to most users. Therefore, very little support, if any, is actually required. We all know how to navigate and use the tool since it is not too different from our personal Facebooks.

Collaboration - the app only gets better as the user interacts more with it. The group discussions can be helpful, as well as the instant messaging feature.
Multiple user communication - instead of a two-way communication
Media sharing - one can share unlimited videos, photos
Robust integration - integrates with other applications and allows you to customize how often you want to receive email communication.
