Overall Satisfaction with Xero

We use Xero for all our accounting and reporting requirments. We also us it for our regulatory reporting requirmenents like BAS and tax returns etc. We don't us the AP or Invoicing - we do that via Stripe (Didn't that cuase some problems!) We get the income and overheads into Xero through our bank feeds.

Pros

  • The reconcilition of the bank feeds
  • Simple one click reporting (Favourites)

Cons

  • Introducing payment platforms
  • Reduced effort each month for bank recs
  • Reduced effort on BAS reporting
Just like any software - you have to learn it's nuances. Xero has an easy to learn and use platfrom, however, if you arent in there daily with high transaction volume, particularly if you are only using it monthly, there can be a few months of learning to get in the swing of it.
This realy hasn't had any impact on us - we have always used cloud based solutions - since 2015
It was relativly simple to connect the bank feeds - including Amex. They have disconnected a few time without reason - It's easy to reconnect them and pick up the missing transactions.
Xero is a lot more user friendly than MYOB, their custer support is somewhat better.

It's good for any small to medium business. It allows you to process as much or as little as you want in house and have external parners access the platfrom to complete other tasks such as book keeping and accounting services. They handled their new partnership with Stripe ery poorly - accessign our Stripe account without authorization from us and set up a new entity in Stripe when we already had our entity in there.
