Smaller less technically staffed companies should avoid it. For mid-size companies with a serious need for a email solution, it might be worth considering if the staff involved in using the product isn't afraid of technically looking stuff. The staff that runs the servers (if it's on-premises deployment) needs to be fairly technical, and willing to dig into issues and errors that will arise.

iContact Pro Select

If you use PRWeb already and are looking for a tool that integrates well with that program and offers additional functionality with email and social media then Vocus is great. If you don't use PRWeb or prefer an email tool with more functionality and ease of use, Vocus is not the best choice.

Pros

  • Useful interface – Adobe campaign presents everything Adobe style, which is easy-to-use, easy to understand the information that's presented toward you.
  • The information is there when you need it – the program shows you exactly what you're looking for, and everything is at 100% accuracy. It was the driving force in helping us decide where to move next.
  • The program is always updated, and the customer service is always helpful; we never ran into any problems working with their team whenever we had a question.

  • Custom Report Creation can be simplified and made more visual like Tableau
  • UI can definitely be made more intuitive and slick
  • Remove limitation of Windows Only for running AC Client Console
  • Support for RESTful services can be improved
  • Integration with third party vendors for SMS,Push can be simplified and made bug free

  • The email function is not user intuitive. It takes a while to get used to knowing where each of the buttons are hiding in the icons at the top of the screen. It also seems that only in the template function can merge fields be added.
  • Some features of other email programs seem to be missing or not working as well like the "view the email in a browser" function and being able to create an email sign up form for placement on our website.
  • Adding people to the email from options is a long and multi-step process that seems overkill.

Once you go for Neolane you are a bit stuck with it, so we will most likely stay with Neolane. Cost of investment and training are the main factors at work here. We havesimply have invested too much in the product to stop using it after 2 years.That said, my score of 8 does not imply that the product is worthy of getting an 8 but reflects our willingness to renew.Given that upgrading to a new version will cost again a substantial sum, we most likely will keep using the current version we are on which is 6X.

Now that we have had the opportunity to try an enterprise wide marketing solution, I think we should look at other tools and programs that have greater flexibility and ease of use. If the tool does not happen to have PR Web then so be it. We may not see the cost savings with PR announcements but if the other tools have increased email functionality then we can part with more money on the PR side like we have in the past

I would say that generally the knowledge of the support team we work with is good, great even.I can't say that they seem to be very interested or involved in trying to make the product work best for us.They do what needs to be done, and they do it well - but not really going the extra mile.

Alternatives Considered

MailChimp is more user-friendly, is a bit easier to use, and is a more affordable product in comparison to Adobe. However, with Adobe Campaign one can produce more professional looking products since it tends to be used by more advanced users. Also, the analytics on Adobe is more in-depth and gives more data than MailChimp.

I was not the end decision maker so I went along with the marketing direction where we needed to consolidate all of our email into one tool to better understand all of our marketing efforts. I don't know that if I was the end decision maker if I would have chosen Vocus

  • We have been able to provide better, more timely leads to our sales staff.
  • We have been able to automate more activities at the top of the sales funnel, making both our sales and marketing staffs more efficient.
  • We have been able to deliver better customer service and more relevant messaging through integration with out CRM platform.

  • By condensing all of our email needs in one program we have seen a better snap shot of our activities and overall metrics.
  • Our emails that may have been sent in Outlook in the past or another CRM are now being sent in Vocus and look more branded and we can see who is opening important communications that need to be read. This helps us determine if we need to resend.
  • Learning a new software is never easy but I feel like Vocus could have had more readily accessible tools or done a better job with the on boarding process.
