Adobe Marketing Cloud

I would recommend Adobe Marketing Cloud as a great tool in the right situation. If you are a larger company that wants to run multiple campaigns at once and has a large team dedicated to this, then Adobe Marketing Cloud could be a good solution for you. If you are a smaller company, the price alone could take Adobe Marketing Cloud off your radar. There are much cheaper options out there if you are running on a smaller scale.

WordPress

If you need a website, WordPress should be on your list. The only exception to that would be a large ecommerce site. I wouldn't recommend WordPress to someone who does hundreds of sales per day via their ecommerce platform. Yes, there are add-ons and plugins that can do it, but you can also mop your floor with your cat. Why do that? There are other platforms that specialize in ecommerce and do it so much better. But if you need a social blog, B2B or B2C lead gen, a non-profit, a membership site, a community bulletin board, news site, arts and music or just a simple about me type of website, WordPress is the perfect platform for you. It's so very popular, that it's not going anywhere. It is a platform that will be supported as long there are websites on the internet! You really can't go wrong. Even if you wanted to do an ecommerce site on WordPress, you can. I just would urge you to look at another solution.

Pros

  • Adobe Marketing Cloud has very detailed analytics outputs, assuming you have set your campaigns and assets up correctly.
  • While the implementation of Adobe Marketing Cloud happened a few years ago and was a lengthy process, the attention to detail and around the clock service of the implementation and success teams was greatly appreciated by us. We have been seeing the effects of a job well done by them for years now.
  • Adobe Marketing Cloud allows us to manage all of our targeted campaigns, emails, social media, on-site ads, etc. all in one place.

  • WordPress is an open source software. Open source software provides awesome features which make it easy to use, modify and build upon. You can make your website the way you want it to be
  • There are many Content Management Systems (CMS) available but WordPress is a popular one. It is a free and open source, the large number of developers making it popular.
  • The thing which I like about WordPress is its simplicity and usability you don't have to be an expert to use WordPress everything is already set up you just have to install the plugin and there you go

Cons

  • The analytics platform (old Omniture.) Not so friendly. There is a higher learning curve if we compare with other platforms in the segment.
  • Sometimes the integration with Adobe Media Optimization and Analytics has a big delay.

  • One of the major advantages of WordPress is it is an open source software but sometimes it becomes its disadvantage since it is an open source it is always at the target of hackers especially if the codes have been written by someone else.
  • When you install lots of plugins the website becomes laggy or stutters it takes time to complete the process.

Although a powerful tool, Google Analytics has been catching up in capabilities and is much simpler to use.As analytics move to the spotlight, more sections in a company want to have access to it. However, creating straightforward reports/dashboards and sharing them with different groups is not a strength of Adobe Marketing Cloud.

My rating is based on the knowledge I have of the community that WordPress has had built around it for years now. It's as solid as it comes when you talk about community involvement and expansion. There's no other CMS out there that can match-up with it, hands down.

WordPress has to be the most user-friendly web-editing and content management system I have ever used for an application that allows me to fully run and manage a website on my own domain with no licensing costs. There are other website applications available that may be easier to use, but most of these require users to run their websites on the application's domain, not on their own domain. One of my core beliefs is that businesses should grow their own assets online, not someone else's. WordPress is not only very easy-to-use once you learn how, but it also lets you publish unlimited content on your own site, and hence, continually grow your own asset.

Anyone can visit WordPress.org and download a fully functional copy of WordPress free of charge. Additionally, WordPress is offered to users as open-source software, which means that anyone can customize the code to create new applications and make these available to other WordPress users.

Mostly, any performance issues have to do with using too many plugins and these can sometimes slow down the overall performance of your site. It is very tempting to start adding lots of plugins to your WordPress site, however, as there are thousands of great plugins to choose from and so many of them help you do amazing things on your site.If you begin to notice performance issues with your WordPress site (e.g. pages being slow to load), there are ways to optimize the performance of your site, but this requires learning the process. WordPress users can learn how to optimize their WordPress sites by downloading the WPTrainMe WordPress training plugin (WPTrainMe.com) and going through the detailed step-by-step WordPress optimization tutorials.

I give this rating, which I believe to be a great rating for a community based support system that's surrounding it. Most platforms and products have their own, and as WordPress does have their own team that help here and there, a lot of it's handled by community involvement with dedicated users who are experts with the system who love to help people.

Alternatives Considered

Adobe's feature set is more robust and progressive. I don't want to invest significantly in technology, just to feel like I'm going to have to upgrade within a few years. I have more confidence that Adobe's products will scale over time than I do in IBM's products, with the exception of Watson.

I have not used other products like WordPress. I know there are many CMS available, but WordPress is the best I don't have to use other Content Management System. It's a great platform and if anyone uses it he/she will not prefer working on other platforms.

WordPress is completely scalable. You can get started immediately with a very simple "out-of-the box" WordPress installation and then add whatever functionality you need as and when you need it, and continue expanding. Often we will create various WordPress sites on the same domain to handle different aspects of our strategy (e.g. one site for the sales pages, product information and/or a marketing blog, another for delivering products securely through a private membership site, and another for running an affiliate program or other application), and then ties all of these sites together using a common theme and links on each of the site's menus.Additionally, WordPress offers a multisite function that allows organizations and institutions to manage networks of sites managed by separate individual site owners, but centrally administered by the parent organization. You can also expand WordPress into a social networking or community site, forums, etc.The same scalability applies to web design. You can start with a simple design and then scale things up to display sites with amazing visual features, including animations and video effects, sliding images and animated product image galleries, elements that appear and fade from visitor browsers, etc.The scaling possibilities of WordPress are truly endless.

Return on Investment

  • Provides a substantial savings in software costs.
  • Decreases time spent on projects.
  • Reduces the chance for inconsistency and errors.
Richard Longo profile photo
  • Because the WordPress platform is free and hosting is not expensive, WordPress usage can positively impact maintenance cost of running a small ecommerce website or a medium-sized blog.
  • Many software companies release free WordPress modules, making it easy to assemble a site with basic functionality quickly.
