[ADP is well suited for] Smaller agencies with a regular payroll and not a complex payroll. Users must be familiar with databases, reporting, etc. as system is not as user friendly as we would like. The cost is also a factor especially as the basic system does not include other features such as performance management, dashboards, etc. I was hoping to have access to the dashboards. Reporting should also provide more sample reports

Paycor is easy to use, the setup process takes some time and if not set up properly at first can cause problems down the road, but Paycor provides excellent customer service to assist you anytime with any issue you have. They are knowledgeable and you can always get someone on the phone even if your personally assigned representatives are not available. Paycor handles all the processing of payroll taxes and reporting so that burden is lifted from our office and we can ensure it will be timely and correct.

Pros

  • Ease of use: This system was particularly easy to use for employees, managers, and administrators. The user-friendly interface and straightforward design helped make accessing and using it that much easier.
  • Viewing: For employees clocking in the system it was easy to clock in/out and also see totals of each week worked along with totals in month/year and vacation accruals.
  • Reporting: This option for administrators was very beneficial and fairly simple to run for novice users.
  • Administrator: The ability to view all partners, edit any employee as needed and ease of making changes in a short period of time.

  • Paycor has amazing customer service. What I like the most is the quick fast service you get each time you call. Even if your particular representative is not available you are given the option to either leave them a message or to get someone else in the department that is available right now to assist you. They are courteous and very knowledgeable and are always able to resolve any issues in a short period of time, usually while you are on the phone with them.
  • Paycor is user friendly and they re constantly updating their systems to better serve their customers. They provide many services to address all your needs and now are providing a mobile app in which employees can use while on the go to be able to manage their time and attendance, to access pay stubs and payroll information quickly without being at a physical computer.
  • Paycor provides many training videos to help in using their system and can provide training to your employees through their website as well. They also offer many webinars to keep employers and employees up-to-date on today's rules and regulations to keep you compliant and to assist employers with options on how to provide better services to their employees.

Cons

  • To cancel or delete a recurring schedule has too many steps for the managers to do so they ask me to do their updates for them.
  • Having several places to make updates is good but also can be bad. When you call ADP, everyone you talk with does things the way they were taught which in turns is you get a different answer. Then you have to remember, how did they do that again?
  • Sometimes less is more. If you update in one area, it does not cross over to another area that it may be tied to, then it's like you are doing double the work.

  • The previous payroll provider that I used had a user - only web site that you could go to to get info from other users. They also posted articles that were informative about current issues. I wish Paycor had something similar.
  • The reporting function is still difficult to me. My contact person has always been helpful in writing the reports I need, but I wish there was a more detailed tutorial that would allow me to create practice reports in order to get a better understanding of how to do my own.

ADP is a good system to track information but, what it lacks is just some detail that provides time savings. Some instances they have made "updates" that tend to have been better previous to those "updates." One example is for staff to see how they have used their time off in the past. There should be an easy way to report and review such other than looking at pay periods. Pay statement and review and totals can also improve.

The training provided was based on a generic database and reporting which made it difficult to compare when you had your own database to work at. It also didn't provide good written materials that would be useful after the training session. It was more geared towards the practice tests or applications within the training.

Make sure Paycor realizes the importance of having your GL set up and to you in a timely fashion. Ours was so delayed, I had to approach our salesperson from Paycor and get him to push the issue up several management levels.

We used Ceridian's Source Assist and later the HR/Payroll Latitude web Products for over ten years. Customer support at Ceridian was a big reason we chose to leave, and Paycor's dedication to client satisfaction has not disappointed us. The lack of flexibility in Ceridian's platform always frustrated us and Paycor makes it easy to customize the product to meet our needs, instead of having to modify our requirements to fit the product's abilities. At Ceridian it seemed that changes, when made, rarely made things easier for us. We have been pleased to find that Paycor listens to client concerns and makes changes that make life easier.

Return on Investment

  • Positive: allows us to use one system of recording time card information versus manually submitting time card information. This helps captures turn labor cost while the manual way had too many room for errors.
  • Negative: if you forget to archive a termed employee, you will still be charged a fee.
  • Negative: when you terminate an employee, it does not automatically cancel out the recurring schedule, so you have to manually update this yourself. Soft cost that could be avoided.

  • We have been able to eliminate many external spreadsheets and databases and consolidate data into Paycor
  • Automated carrier feeds have simplified benefit administration and reduced our workload
  • Online open enrollment has been a huge time saver for us and our employees have been very happy with the level of employee self service available
  • Paycor's ability to export data to other products has allowed us to synchronize data across multiple platforms within the company and assure that changes made in Paycor are reflected in our other systems.
