For a small employer, with very little turnover and few benefit options, ADP may be too costly for the benefit. There are many affordable payroll providers available for small organizations.For large employers with many benefits options, employees in multiple locations, multiple tax jurisdictions and varied pay types (salary, hourly, commission, etc), ADP is ideal. The extended customer service hours, extensive resources for international pay, and capability for multi state taxation is crucial for an international employer.

Lanteria HR

Lanteria HR is great for an HR department that's trying to get away from managing multiple spreadsheets or archaic systems. It allows you to store all your data in-house so it's not stored on some cloud server/service. Reporting and workflow setups are great and since it uses SharePoint, Active Directory integration works great as well.

Cons

ADP Workforce Now

  • Several bugs caused by the use of unsupported internet browsers. In general, it seems as though there is a lag between browser upgrades, and seamless navigation on the system.
  • 'Lack of attention to detail' implementation issues, which had actual net effects on effected employees requiring adjustments, all directly attributed to ADP Implementation Team. Ex. Double Time hours did not have any wages attached to them for approximately a month after go-live, which after being discovered needed to be corrected.
  • A few normal recurring payroll activities take a few more steps, and are a little more confusing than they feel they should be.

  • As much as I like the reporting, it could be a little more flexible. Can't add interview notes to reporting.
  • Built on SharePoint, so any functionality limitations of SharePoint are going to be there.
  • Support is great, but at times language barrier can be a little challenging.
  • Had a bad experience with the US Sales team here. Wasn't responsive but finally got someone from another region to help us.

I would definitely support renewing ADP's WFN project because it hasn't left me wanting for anything. All products have minor nuances that could use improving and I genuinely believe that as long as we're providing that feedback to ADP then they will use it to leverage their resources to make the most requested changes in future versions of the software

Because most of the payroll piece is self explanatory. Some training may be required to learn the lingo, but they also have "help" screens available on each section. I use this function if I don't understand what is going on. The time and attendance piece is fairly easy for the employee to learn with very little training.

The payroll support is excellent, but the support on the technical side is lacking. The support for the portal is especially lacking. I think they need more training to be able to serve the customer more efficiently. I have had issues with employees not being able to log in even after resetting the password, and have had to call back a couple of different times to get results. Luckily I don't have issues that I need to call them about very often.

Either assign more than one specialist to the implementation process, or assign less clients to the implementation specialist. The process requires attention to detail and the ability to test and re-test as well as verify the information. It also requires a lot of back and forth between the client ant the implementation specialist, so they need to be readily available during the whole implementation process.

I did not specifically select ADP WFN. I was cautiously optimistic when it was identified as the tool the organization was going to move forward with. I've previously used Oracle's HRIS and found it to be non-intuitive, overly complex and cumbersome. I was thrilled at how easy ADP WFN was to quickly learn and immediately put into practice

  • ADP Workforce Now has really moved our organization into a self-service model. We utilize mobile access, iPay, employee engagement via the Portal, etc.
  • The complete separate between HR and Payroll is very challenging and, to be honest, unacceptable. We have learned to work with it but it is a very poor model for Corporate America. But, ADP knows this and will no longer sell this product. Anyone converting to ADP now will have the latest and greatest which hopefully will meet the reporting/functionality of their biggest competitors.
  • The most positive area of WFN is Benefit Administration. It does it all and is very easy to use.
