Surely Appian is not a Site Development Tool. So we should avoid the use of a system for just UX development. We should look for process automation as much as we can mature the use cases.

if you're trying to cut costs and be on budget, Kissflow enables you to analyze purchase orders at a more detailed level so that you can find purchases that are not necessary and end them. I think when an invoice is paid on a monthly basis and the cost is typically the same, it isn't necessary to have in Kissflow.

Pros

  • Ease of Use - one of our main drivers was that it had to be simple to use. Moreso when a large proportion of our userbase are external to the airport and sometimes unknown, which makes training a particularly difficult task. We also didn't want our internal users to be slowed down after the introduction so again we put a lot of effort into making the interface as simple to use and visually uncluttered.
  • Version upgrades, enhancements, minor bug fixes and all loaded without much interruption to the system availability time. We generally schedule version upgrades so that they occur at 1am local time to avoid any impact on our user base.
  • Appian & Cognizant resources assigned to our implementation were and still are absolutely amazing. Going above and beyond to maximise the benefits that we obtain from the implementation. Proactive when it comes to dealing with business units that are somewhat stuck in their ways, happy to demonstrate better ways of doing things and providing solutions to problems that would have been otherwise assigned to the too hard basket.

Cons

  • Because of the low numbers employed by our organisation, our ability to make use of an enterprise licence model has been restricted. To their credit, Appian have come up with mutually beneficial solutions to help contain costs and allow us to grow our numbers.

  • There is no ability to get into older POs to clear out or investigate. It would be nice to have access to anything over 3 months old.

Usability

The usability is quite high thanks to the modern appeal of the platform. In general, the possibility to build the form in a flexible way, lets the designers thinking about UX design principles and mostly co-design the front-end with users that will use it. By the last release, Appian added a lot of new items for form design that are improving a lot the possibilities designers have. The only doubt I have is in the evolution of the Record, Report and News section that sometimes can solve the same problem and you should choose only one of them.

Appian updates happen automatically and regularly (about every two months or so). We are informed when updates are coming to understand the timing, and in our short timeframe (about 6 months) we have had no issues with functionality breaking

As analyst I participated in a developer boot camp. At times it was hard to keep up but most of the time it made sense. Trainer took the time to explain and slowed pace down to answer questions etc.

Alternatives Considered

We were attracted to Appian for the following reasons:- industry leader for business process management systems- ease of use- low development platform- ability to build once and deploy to different environments- the availability of a java API enables us to interface with our online systems- simple to use and provides a common application to make adoption easier and reduce training requirements.

There is not a whole lot to write here. I can simply say that KiSSLFLOW is a great process management tool that can be used very easily used. Here at our organization we use JIRA\, Atlassian, Office365, however these tools are used in a different capacity. KiSSLFOW has been incredibly useful to our group.

  • Our objective to reduce customer effort when dealing with government by 25% was exceeded. In the process of applying for an alcohol licence renewal alone, we saw approximately 80% reduction in time and effort for the business customer - and that was just a prototype! Imagine the possibilities when this is taken into a live environment!
