Likelihood to Recommend

AppNexus

AppNexus works very well for branding campaigns, where you are able to bid higher because performance is not that important. Since CPMs on the platform are high and publishers are premium, AppNexus is a perfect fit. I wouldn't recommend it if you need to achieve any kind of leads or CPA, or if you want to get easy clicks.

TerminalOne OS

Terminal1One MOS offers a "DMP lite" that can help advertisers begin to grow their 1st party data without leveraging a separate DMP. As precise targeting becomes increasingly important, advertisers must begin to cultivate audiences that they can then take action on in the future. Additionally, if a client requires intense customer support, TerminalOne MOS is one of the best in the business.

  • Good operating system with a constant effort to integrate all the latest technology needed to perform well in digital media buying.

Cons

AppNexus

  • They charge to audit creatives, which is unacceptable.
  • The platform is not easy to use. Not intuitive.
  • Steep prices on their inventory.

TerminalOne OS

  • MediaMath was pricy for what it is.
  • MediaMath is only one part of the tool - You still need an ad server, such as Mediaplex, to serve the ads on.
  • There are bigger players in the game now, such as Conversant, ValueClick, DoubleClick, etc that have a larger reach.

I love almost everything about AppNexus because I feel like the user data is easy to track because of the identifiers, you can see which adverts got clicked and which were ignored. We can track the location of the ad on the page fold and this makes it so much easier for future campaigns. The only thing I don't like is that the data is only kept for a year, and I'd like it for a longer period of time

At this point, I know there are better options out there for OUR use case. This is not true of everyone, so I don't want to give them a zero because I don't like their tool or value proposition. They are a great tool, for what they do, and have a great group of people running things and providing support.

Because I think the interface is kind of confusing at the beginning and it confuses you a lot.

Because the support team does give you support, they take 24hrs to get back to you but once they open a ticket they focus on resolving the issue for you. My only problem is that you don't have a specific account representative assigned to you.

Alternatives Considered

AppNexus

AppNexus has more advanced targeting options as well as better publishers than The Trade Desk. Even if the system is harder to use and less intuitive they have a lot of CTV inventory and are at the forefront of the industry. They should expand on other markets to improve their offering to other DSPs.

TerminalOne OS

The main DSP I've used beyond TerminalOne MOS is DoubleClick Bid Manager. DBM has stronger 3rd party data from a deterministic standpoint as one can target Google users based on age and gender. Additionally, DBM provides access to YouTube inventory, which is a major plus given it is the primary place users consume video content.
