I have used Mattermost for one year and during that period we have achieved a lot as a department. It gives us the best working plan that enhances best use of time and planning for all business operations. Our digital marketing tools gets great boost that has lead to increased flow of customers and improved sales. It ensures that all marketing projects that we design perform effectively.

Mattermost

  • I like privately hosted, keeping my organization's top secrets and information security a secret.
  • We are able to create different channels for different projects and teams where we quickly have some discussions on various matters related to work.
  • Another intuitive aspect of this tool is that it's very flexible we are able to effortlessly switch from desktop to Mobile phone without any technical error or hitch.
  • Great support team, overall keeps everything moving forward and in the right direction.

Cons

Cisco Business Edition 7000

  • More cloud based services need to be added to the default service package.
  • Companies frequently require a small contact center within the UC environment. It would be nice to see a build it contact center in the box.
  • It would be nice to see some advanced AI based services (IVR voice recognition service) in the BE7K application list.
  • Call recording should be also built in.

Mattermost

  • Some of the features in paid plans could be free, however, they have much offered in free plan (self-hosted)
  • The Desktop App we use on windows has some bugs, like when Mattermost is down and comes back up, the app needs restart

It's an extremely easy to use software, and I would recommend it to every company that is growing. I think they could improve their notification system, as it gets a little spammy sometimes and important notifications get lost. Also needs to improve the number of private chats that you are allowed to create.

Alternatives Considered

Cisco Business Edition 7000

I've used 220s and 240s too, but it takes a lot of time to set them up, a lot of time to download the iso files, and set up of datastores. 7k saves the engineer a lot of pre-build assessment and evaluation time. Gets a lot done in a lot less time, returns are a happy engineer and a happier customer.

Mattermost

Mattermost is possibly the opportunities of cloud against any of the workplace communication software, especially for developers. DevOps integrations make it easier for users to use it with multiple tools like Github, Zendesk, and Zoom. The peer community support is well enough to help you if you face any issues while running the open-source software in production.

Mattermost

  • It has reduced ticket quantity by a vast percentage, which has reduced costs due to less call being placed to the help desk
  • It has reduced email flow as well, which requires less management by Mail Administrators
  • It has made software developers within the organization very happy, as most of them are now ambassadors for Mattermost
