Paychex Flex, of Paychex' Online Payroll Services, is a cloud-based human resource management and payroll platform. Paychex offers core and specialized services, and scales to meet the needs of small businesses, SMBs, and large enterprises.
It has been a great and easy experience, and I'd highly recommend it to colleagues. It is easy to navigate, all my information is in one place, and if I need additional help within the tool -- some resources quickly help answer any additional questions I may have.
Time and attendence specialist was very gracious, when we had to delay onboarding and going live. Specialist agreed to several zoom trainings to accomodate other staff to be trained. Reports are confusing and have to search through them to find what I'm looking for. Have to have exact wording in order to find reports
Employees not being able to see pay stubs or tax documents
Employees who call for help and speak with an "agent" rarely have something resolved
Effective date within Paychex Flex doesn't work quite like you'd think. We've been told we need to modify our procedures so the system doesn't get confused.
Despite having COBRA services turned off for years now, the system still isn't turned off. Our AM isn't able to facilitate getting this corrected so we stop receiving notifications.
Overall I like the features that Paychex Flex offers. I am sure that there are other features that I am unaware of, so I am excited to see if there is more that Flex is capable of to make my job easier. The basic features are really user friendly and easy to access. If there ever is an issue customer service is great
I would like to have better training on the reports and other options that I don't use regularly. It feels like they don't contact me enough to ask how things are going or if there are areas I would like help with. I'm sure there are many more functions that I am not currently using. I have found some of them on my own but, when I call with a question, they usually refer to someone that specializes in that area of Paychex. Wish there were more options to talk to one or two people for most of my needs.
We have not experienced any difficulties with unplanned outages. Notifications are always made for outages, and they do not effect normal business operations.
Unless there is lag time within the internet, the Paychex Flex website loads exceptional fast, pages load quickly and reports that I need to print or download load quickly. If I need to create a specialized report, once I complete it I receive an e-mail telling me my report is ready to be downloaded. Changing between web pages is fast as well.
I've reached out to support a few times, and they are always super responsive over email, and willing to jump on a phone call too to discuss my issue directly.
Paychex support representatives were overall friendly and tried to be helpful. Actually, many times the general support department were the ones who corrected issues caused by my PEO "specialists". For quick issues related to payroll and such, calling support was typically a good experience. There were times where the thing I needed to call about should have been something that could easily have been done independently without support, but often that wasn't the case as the software is very complex and a bit cumbersome.
It was easy to understand and follow along. I do like the informational videos that we can utilize before we opt to call in for customer service support. It has made a difference since sometimes that resolves the issue I may have had and saved myself a phone call to Paychex support.
Just make sure you have your in-house data collected and organized before you start. It would be helpful to put together a questionnaire to solicit all of the needed information.
The UI of Collective Health is sleek and intuitive, and the company provides extremely quick and remarkably reliable via their support channels (Message, Chat and Phone Call). Moreover, the descriptions they provide for each medical service is succinct and still very informative.
I have used both ADP Workforce Now and ADP Run for smaller companies. ADP is a great program and does what it does well but it does not compare to Paychex Flex. When I call Paychex Flex, I'm routed to my account representative immediately. If my rep isn't available, I'm transferred to another person immediately. ADP lacks in that area; if you need something from them, you'll be on hold for hours. Paychex Flex also is very employee-friendly which is another area where ADP could improve. Lastly is the cost. Cost is a huge thing for a company of our size. Paychex Flex isn't cheap but it's worth every penny and you get more for your dollar.
Employees can log in at home and get up to date information on their FSA balance and any medical bill reimbursements they may have uploaded. At renewal time they have the ability to make changes to their FSA or for new employees star the enrollment.
Using Paychex Flex has been a great timesaver for me - I can print out timesheets that help keep me focused on all the employee's time and accurate reporting.
The payroll journals are very easy to read and make cash management a very simple process.
Employees love that they can go online and see their paychecks and payroll information, thereby leaving me to do more important tasks.
