Overall Satisfaction with Paychex Flex

We currently use Paychex Flex for onboarding and payroll. As a seasonal business, there are many challenges with managing new and rehires. Over the years, the platform has grown to make the process somewhat easier. The overall business "problem" of simple payroll is done quite smoothly by Paychex Flex.
  • Visual of payroll within Paychex Flex
  • Visual of time and attendance
  • Dedicated service representative
  • Custom reporting features need improvement
  • Onboarding flow to Paychex Flex lacks data transfers and needs fix
  • Time and Attendance and Paychex Flex permissions in separate locations and should be in one place
  • With Paychex Flex we have been able to improve our compliance with required documentation for new/rehires
  • Moving everyone to direct deposit and mobile clock in/out eliminated lines at punching stations and paycheck pickup stations
  • Lost checks is a thing of the past
Positively - Specific reports on employee time and cost have allowed us to track different departments to become better aware of productivity and needed training.
Our dedicated representative is one of the main reasons we are sticking with Paychex Flex. If it were not for this person, other platforms could provide the same/similar functionality. It is the ability to speak with someone that understands our business and is willing to get questions answered in a timely fashion that keeps us with Paychex Flex.
All solutions we have reviewed offer the same solutions, and all have pros/cons. Price is a factor, and we have found slightly less costly solutions, though any cost savings are negated in transition costs.

Do you think Paychex Flex delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Paychex Flex's feature set?

No

Did Paychex Flex live up to sales and marketing promises?

No

Did implementation of Paychex Flex go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Paychex Flex again?

Yes

There are too many clicks to hire/rehire an employee. However, I have seen progress to a more streamlined integration between all of the modules to be combined. I await further improvements, both functionally and visually, to make the entire payroll process easier. As of now, there is much room for improvement just as we have seen with other providers we have reviewed.
Onboarding of rehires needs improvement and makes our case more difficult. If we didn't have the inflow of hiring and rehiring, this platform would be completely appropriate with little to no issue. With the large employee count, needing to make changes across time and attendance and Paychex Flex adds extra work. Additionally, onboarding fields don't always transfer to Paychex Flex, and items like age (that do transfer) allow for someone to be 0 yrs old.
