Likelihood to Recommend It's helpful for top of marketing funnel writing that we can sometimes lose sight of because we are so ingrained in the product day to day. Contently is also helpful for long written pieces and ebooks that will take a significant amount of employee time to put together. I avoid using Contently for mid to bottom funnel marketing writing because my team will often have greater insight into the product function or use-case or product release, making them more adroit to the tone of the written piece and able to produce the content quickly.
Read full review Optimizely’s CMP has significantly organized out Marketing department’s workflow processes and ability to find current assets. The campaign function allows us to group together all the relevant tasks despite them being carried out by different teams. Assets are updated rather than duplicated. Tasks are collaborated on rather than siloed. Requests are seen rather than lost
Read full review Pros Consolidating my work in one place to make my work life easier Contently is unique from other content marketing organizational tools in one key way. It hands you a network of freelance professionals eager for delegated work. You can search through a database of professionals to find the perfect person for your given project. Find individuals in your budget offering the exact skills and experience you need. Read full review Customer Service: They'll contact you with a "we're looking at your issue" email within the hour, even on weekends and holidays. Beyond solving your issues/problems with the software, they'll also follow up later to make sure you don't have additional associated issues. Live Analytics: You're given a snapshot of how your blog content is doing at any point in time, since they've been tracking your posts/content. You can compare this month's traffic to last year's trafffic during this same month. Other data points include: Unique Visitors, Average Attention Time, Pageviews, Engagement Rate, etc...and you'll even get referral traffic source. There's much more that I'm leaving out here. CMP User Interface (UI): Love the easy to use interface to upload blog posts, to use for editing and publishing content, and broadcasting social shares. Besides easily identifiable icons, you can create/edit content in the WYSIWYG or use the html view to make sure everything looks exactly how you prefer. Another cool thing is that the CMP auto-embeds live links of social updates (like Youtube, Twitter, Instagram) for more dynamic blog posts. Mai Le Content Marketing Specialist
Read full review Cons I have been using it for 3.5 years, and have had no response from potential clients. The portfolio section is pretty easy to use, but I don't love the format. Since I'm not a client, I don't know just how easy it is for them to find new freelancers or how often it is actually used. Probably more suited for some types/concentrations of freelance writers, like finance, tech, or healthcare. Read full review Remove the preview option when clicking once. It'll be nicer if we click and being provided with both options instead. Provide the option to download an entire folder of docs without entering to the folder itself. 'Watch' option for specific docs, not just for folders... Read full review Usability Hands down the tagging and commenting. Easy way for us to keep a record of what's going on with each project. The ability to set different views is great. Filters are pretty good - I'd like to have some additional functionality there but happy with what's available. Reporting can be clunky but improvements happen often.
Read full review Support Rating I'm giving them a 10, but honestly, I've never reached out to them. I do see them putting out regular content on social media, so they might be responsive to questions there as well as regular customer support. In their posts and communication, they do seem to value their community, so hopefully, they have good customer support. And I've seen them asking for pitches from their community to publish well-paid articles during this stressful coronavirus time, and I really appreciate that.

Read full review Alternatives Considered I also opened an account with
Skyword in 2019, which is a similar service. The person that recommended it was a travel writer, and since I've done that as well, I thought it might be a better fit. To this point, I've received no work from it either, and don't hold out a lot of hope. As previously mentioned, where I think Contently does well is by giving you an online portfolio, additional resources like a blog for learning, and a rates database for publications.

DivvyHQ and moved to Welcome for reasons that I cannot remember at this time. The migration was a couple of years ago now. I enjoyed both tools, but I do think Welcome makes it easier to track workflows, edits, and comments specifically. These are all key elements when dealing with content and it has made a huge difference.
