CyberArk Workforce Identity (formerly Idaptive Next-Gen Access)

Centrify is a great solution for anyone looking to start using Office 365. It is also a great solution for anyone wanting to provide their users with an SSO solution using OAUTH, Federation, or SAML for any hosted service. If you are looking to use Centrify for MDM but you aren't using a hosted/hybrid email solution such as Office 365, there are better on-premise options that should be explored.

Jamf Pro

Jamf [Pro] is great if you have a fleet of Apple Devices that you need to manage, but do not necessarily have the drive/will/time/manpower. Whatever your reason for being hesitant to get started on managing your devices, Jamf [Pro] can make it easier. We used a different MDM before for our lower school, and it took 5 weeks for two people to redeploy the devices before we could even start to clean them physically (read: sanitize because why are the kids always sticky). Now, it is just me, and I could re-deploy all of the devices in a day if I wanted to, but I actually do it over three so as to not overtax the network as it reinstalls all of the apps as I watch... It has been a great time saver, and now, in one week I (just me... I swear to you) I have all of my devices re-deployed and cleaned. I only need to wait on new enrollments to edit the numbers. I will admit Jamf [Pro] is not appropriate in an environment where you rely on that sort of time-consuming busywork to justify your hours, it is a time-saver!

  • Jamf Nation - valuable information, tips, tricks and resources to go to when you might have issues. Often times the issue you are facing, isn't something new at all. There are always others who have run into it and can provide valuable insight to resolving. If it is something completely new, you have a plethora of other admins at your disposal who are able to quickly assist you.
  • Integrated patch management - easy to keep your software up to date on devices.

  • Occasionally, I get logged out of Gmail, sometimes in the middle of an email. I'm not sure why it happens, but I think it has something to do with timing out. Which is strange because I'm on email all day. Not sure why.

  • Jamf training curriculum need to be revisit specially Jamf 400 Expert exam.

An all in one solution fits our needs better and is more cost-effective in the long run. Jamf Pro needs to improve some features and support but overall its a good product.

If we hit a wall, the Jamf user community and tech support departments both are more than willing to help solve problems. Tech support is excellent, but the surprising thing is the user base is by far the biggest resource. Jamf users love to help each other, by directly chatting about issues, posting best practices, or just posting info on the forums.

Centrify offered us more for our money by being more than just an SSO platform. There were several other features included such as MDM and MFA. This started other initiatives for us and felt the other solutions we evaluated would not have been able to provide.

Jamf Pro

Jamf Pro is pretty much in a class by itself. Apple Remote Desktop has a few distinct advantages, however. 1) the ability to execute a unix command on multiple systems and to see the output of those commands in one place on screen; 2) the ability to observe multiple desktops at once 3) it's easier to do quick one-offs to a group of machines or to run commands/programs under a current user context 4) it shows the state of each computer and whether it's logged on.
