It is well-suited when security is a priority, as it is highly secure. It is also well-suited when you have a higher budget and need a more robust featureset than some of its more affordable competitors. Given its market share, it is also appropriate to use Dropbox where you have a wide array of clients, because chances are, many of them will already be using it

Any work environment where more than one team member is able to address certain customer requests. We used to use Groups, but then it was confusing as to whether or not someone responded, and we needed more transparency between team members. Another example is a person emailing with a billing question. We used to reply and add the billing department's email address or forward the email to billing, but with Hiver, simply assigning it to the billing HIVER Inbox allows anyone to reply directly to the customer without the issue of either the customer or team member remembering to reply all or accidentally replying only to the team member forwarding the email.

  • Cloud storage of large files. Makes for easy sharing and downloading.
  • Activity tracking allows us to see when files were downloaded and by which users.
  • Able to sync files across devices, so when updates are made they can be pushed to desktop, laptop, etc.

  • File previews. Dropbox is not the best at allowing you to preview the file. A lot of times people will have to download the file to view it. We've done video work and the client will review it with the Dropbox preview and the quality is very low. This causes the client to thing the video file is low quality.
  • Pricing is a bit on the high side compared to other cloud storage solutions.

  • There is currently no way to create a support ticket unless related to an email already received. It would be extremely beneficial to be able to take a call and create a support ticket within HIVER based on the call in the same manner that we can create a ticket from an inbound email.

Dropbox is very expensive and its price is not as competitive as it was. We are looking for an alternative that will enable as to subscribe more users at a more affordable cost.Also, we did not like Dropbox customer service, and felt that they should have found a way to compensate us for some of the damage they were responsible for when restoring our data.

From the IT department perspective, I give an 8 because there are certain areas where management can get a little tricky. Some areas are not the easiest to understand, and I've found myself chatting with their tech support on a few occasions to find answers to things that should have been evident. From the end user perspective, I give it a 10 - I'll keep pushing this - industry standard - if they don't do it right - no one can. For the end user - it works well. Receiving shared folders and files, sharing folders and files - super simple and easy to teach.

Dropbox generally performs quite well. Syncing b/w computer and cloud is generally quick, even for large files - and Dropbox does a good job at managing bandwidth to not use all available bandwidth. In addition, Dropbox includes a LAN based syncing mechanism, so two computers on the same network can sync files via LAN vs. over the internet. Dropbox's webpages always to seem to load quickly and display files, even in a folder with large amount of files, quickly. Dropbox's web-based search though is often times slow and inaccurate.

Generally we use the help topics and forums mostly. However, as Pro Business account holders we get priority email support and when they say priority, they mean it. The few times we have actually used it, mostly in the beginning, they replied to our questions immediately. The speed at which they responded was awesome. To be honest though, everything in the Dropbox system is so simple, and the help functionality and forums are so helpful, we very rarely ever even think of asking for priority level support.

The implementation was actually very simple. Again, as stated previously, the most intriguing part of the entire exercise was the implementation of the directory structure for each account. Once you design and implement it for one, it becomes quite simple to replicate for each account you implement thereafter. You just really need to take time to ensure you implement the first perfectly and those that follow on will be likewise work efficiently and easily.

I think the desktop element of Dropbox was really appealing. I haven't explored enough about Google Drive to know if they have some similar functionalities, but have used it only for some personal storage. For our team, Dropbox was a leader in the industry, so we felt most comfortable migrating to them.

  • Dropbox has had a very positive impact on our ability to keep the team mobile and able to work from practically anywhere they have access to an Internet connection.
  • We no longer have to worry about accidental breach of privacy or security when using dropbox, where we have full control over which users can see which files – and when they can see and/or interact with them.
  • As a backup solution, it gives us peace of mind when accidents happen or a technical issue arrises. With Dropbox, our files are safe and easily accessible to those who should have access to them.
