When evaluating other systems, we compared Everhour against Toggl Track and JIRA. Toggl Track offered robust reporting but felt too feature-heavy for our contractor management needs. It was also a bit more difficult to use. JIRA's time tracking, while powerful for development …

Everhour is far superior to Harvest, which has poor Asana integration and hasn't been appreciably updated in years.

Everhour is the most user-friendly time tracking app that we have used, which is more motivating for employees to continue using it. We'll often have hundreds of tasks being worked on during a given day, and we love that Everhour makes it simple to integrate into Asana (our …

Everhour is much more intuitive to use. I love the Projects board that's similar to Trello, love the billable vs. non-billable functionality, and how easy it is to create an invoice based on the uninvoiced hours.

It's great when you need precise billable hour tracking across multiple clients with different rates, integrated invoicing, and detailed project breakdowns. I would have liked to see regular security audits and/or a SOC report given the nature of the information that's being documented in the product. However, that may not be a huge deal depending on your organization.

I have been using Toggl for about seven years now, and I absolutely love it. It keeps me on track with the tasks I complete throughout the day. Tracking my time makes me more accountable for the work I produce and how much time my work takes. Having the breakdown of my tasks helps inform decisions on hiring support staff. I can see exactly where my time goes and then formulate a strategy to either bring in more help, delegate work, or re-prioritize. When coupled with other productivity apps (I particularly use ToDoist), you can unlock even more of Toggl's power. Toggl Track isn't so much a checklist tool--it's a time tracker; but when I integrate my to-do app with the time tracking, I can quickly and easily switch between tasks without disrupting workflow.

We have discovered over the last few years using Tenrox that we could adapt our needs or processes to fit in the Tenrox box rather than adapting Tenrox to fit in ours completely. I feel like Tenrox would be better suited for a company that has fewer clients and projects over the course of a year, as well as fewer users. We have approximately 350 clients, 21,077 projects in Tenrox at this exact moment (we close projects as we can), 188 active users currently, and 415,635 tasks (some of course assigned to now closed projects). With this much information hosted through the Tenrox cloud server, we experience increased lag time frequently. This causes a lot of unwanted rejection towards Tenrox in our company.

Integration with project management tools, like Trello, that makes the project management easier to do because you have metrics and statistics grouped on just one site.
Metrics of expended time per user and per project makes decisions easier You can have all the data to support changes or decisions in the company, like rentability of certain type of products offered.
The Everhour team is always evolving, so they always ask how you feel about everything and if anything is not working as expected. You are always surprised with new improvements that you didn't think could be useful but that end up adding value to your business.

Toggl integrates smoothly across multiple devices. I can seamlessly move from the field on my phone to the office on my computer and utilize Toggl the entire time.
It has great customization. Setting up multiple customers in a variety of ways is easy and quick to do. We haven't found something we needed that we couldn't set up.
The reporting is clean and informative. Reports can be generated for multiple criteria.

We love that our timesheets are pre-populated with all our employee's assigned contracts and we get to control what is on their timesheet as far as funder and contract codes.
Tenrox did very well with our integration and getting a timesheet that exports well with our payroll provider.
Tenrox has a great email reminder system for when people need to submit or approve timesheets.

Expenses tracking system - if it will allow to track all fixed INs and OUTs inside the project (and track invoices based not only on time tracking but generated manually) it can replace our financial tool or make it more automated
I am genuinely trying to come up with room for improvement, but I am struggling
Toggl is seriously my favorite tool I use as a freelancer, and they offer so much functionality for free - that's why I always write reviews
Maybe they could make it a little easier to adjust time tracking mistakes (leaving the timer running too long) -- I have to do several clicks to fix it and I make this error frequently

Tax calculation per state tax rules. Tenrox's current capabilities relative to tax codes is extremely limited and we have to do several time-consuming work-arounds in order to apply the tax as needed for our business. What is particularly frustrating about this aspect is that our need is based on tax laws and codes set by states and I feel a financial system should be able to sufficiently structure for legally-defined tax codes.
Tenrox Project Planning add-on module. This portion of the system has never worked as seamlessly as you would assume given they were designed to work together. We've run in to many bugs and just oddities over the years. It's very finicky in my experience. We only use TPP for a small portion of our projects - those being our smaller or need to have huge task lists per client naming requirements.
(The bad that became the good!) In the past, we have had significant customer-service challenges with Tenrox and then Upland, however over the past several months we have noticed a marked change in this. If we had not previously experienced issues with the customer service, I would not have any issue with the level of service that we are currently receiving. Given the history, I am cautiously optimistic that our current level of customer service will continue. I think our service concerns finally reached the 'right' people and I am reasonably confident the positive changes are here to stay!

I am not in charge of renewing the Tenrox contract. However, if it was up to me, I would renew in a heartbeat. Tenrox is an asset to our organization and it keeps us focused. I am not aware of other products similar to Tenrox that provide the depth that they do.
Everhour's overall usability is definitely one of its key strengths. The UI is intuitive and clean, making time tracking feel less "technical" than other solutions we've tried. Our entire team, including less tech-savvy contractors, found it easy to use.

Very easy to use, can enter projects and tasks on the fly, can use either a timer or enter hours later manually, the interface is simple and intuitive. Has a mobile app that is also easy to use.

I feel like if the user interface could combine time and expense for users to be entered on one screen rather than two completely separate locations it would greatly improve usability. If the expense entry process could be improved completely, it would greatly improve the usability as well. Everything else within Tenrox, makes everything very user friendly.

In the almost 2 1/2 years we have had to contact support 1 time and it really was for a feature request. Their support team responded quickly and told us that the feature was going to be added in the next few months. We have had no support issues ever. I have never had a time tracking solution that has had no issues until Everhour.
I haven't needed much support from Toggl, as it's mostly come from a small team trying out the tool. I'm not entirely sure what the best way to reach them would be if I did need them. I'm also not sure how responsive they would be to support requests. But I think it's positive that I have not needed them

The support team is always very helpful and strives to ensure they have met your needs and corrected your issues in a timely manner. If they need more information or cannot recreate the issue themselves, then they will follow-up to gather the necessary data themselves. They are constantly striving to meet the needs of all users and understand so many different industries and types of environments out there, it is very impressive.

The main thing with implementation is to make sure you have taken full advantage of the "sandbox testing" site that Tenrox provides to you during development. Try out every scenario you can think of, have other people enter information if needed, so that you can make sure you have not missed any big items. If you have the opportunity, roll out implementation to small groups of users. Depending on how your company is set up, I would choose groups that are not all in the same department so that you can address questions across all areas before adding in more users in the next wave of implementation.

Originally, I was using Harvest and really liked its features. However, the Harvest invoicing system only pushes data into QBO, but doesn't check / sync invoice numbers or update for payment status, so it was resulting in duplicate invoice numbers and extra effort to update status in both places. So, I started looking for another solution. I tried a LOT of products. Everhour addressed the following issues I encountered from various other services:
Bi-directional sync of invoices so records in QBO & Everhour always match (without having to load a bunch of extraneous records to either system)
Start-stop timer
Set budgets by project and client to easily monitor project status & profitability
Allow all team members to track to projects they're following, even if not assigned to them
Clean, modern interface (if I'm using it every day, it better be pretty and easy to use)
Ability to edit time, and limit others' ability to edit their time (though we don't restrict time editing for our users)
Doesn't require use of Projects in QBO in order to sync properly
Doesn't try to take over invoicing or break QBO functionality

One year ago I compared it to several tools, trying to use them in parallel. Now I don't remember the exact names of those tools, but Toggl was the best for its simplicity. It is easier to use, with fewer clicks and hence less destruction

The Tenrox software looks and feels older and is not as user friendly! Harvest, for example, is an upgraded version that is easier to track and compile. This is what I'm comparing it to and it's not even close! We only selected Tenrox because it was cheaper and we had a connection in the company with someone at Tenrox to use that platform. We are currently looking for a change.

We're more aware on the investement of hours required in a project, not just the estimated hours but the actual time invested by every member of the team
Everhour is a good tool to adequate the pricing to the actual investement of hours needed and to bill the clients when the actual time invested exceeded the estimated time
The members of the team (and i'm speaking for myself too) are now more aware of how much it takes to complete a task. Having this in mind help us to organise our everyday and to know when we are free to take new clients
My timetracking needs are simple, so this is a great tool for me. Start the timer, stop the timer as client work is performed, whether that is uninterrupted time or not.
It is very easy to review work time invested for each of my clients, making it easy for me to track my daily time and review monthly hours for preparing invoices.
Daily time is automatically aggregated.
Each time entry can be tagged with work activity, or projects can be segmented and time assigned to the segments with start and stop times.

Tracking, tracking, tracking. It keeps the data we need and gives us the ability to look at it in countless different ways with just a few clicks, which is a big time saver. Without Tenrox, we would definitely have to increase our headcount in order to accomplish billing and payroll.
We recently were able to automate a huge portion of business that was still (yes, still in 2014!) being managed out of an Excel spreadsheet. We experienced a great deal of resistance to the change with our own employees, however now that we have it going we have cleaned up our invoicing and impressed the highest-financial officer for two consecutive months - our first/only two months billing directly from Tenrox for that group.
A newer development for our team - Some client managers in the other divisions our company have begun to look at what we are able to do with Tenrox and our other primary system and get some of their work moved over to our group. This is great and is giving us new opportunities - we will likely need to increase the headcount of our admin. team, but for a good reason (too much work coming our way!).
