Guru Technologies
Guru is fantastic for developing and sharing organization-wide policies and procedures, newsletters, and updates. The triggers feature is incredibly valuable to surface relevant information throughout daily workflows, and it is useful for creating how-to guides. Guru doesn't do well when used as a data dictionary or catalog, given it's lack of integrations with such systems.

Seismic
Seismic excels at being a one-stop shop for all content that is relevant to salespeople and the deal cycles they work through. It does a great job not only making content and training readily available but also at distributing the right content at the right time/for the right scenario. Based on my experience with the tool, this was a go-to for many reps (myself included) because it saved us so much time. Rather than sifting through documents and collateral, we could easily find what we needed in a matter of moments.

Cons
Guru Technologies
  • Guru could improve on search mechanics. Sometimes, providing a keyword to search does not pull up the most relevant article/card.
  • Guru could also improve the content to be much clearer and more precise, especially with the step-by-step process. Fixing this issue prevents agents from being confused about the process.

  • Adding more integration points and use cases with Salesforce would be good to have
  • Navigating to a specific resource gets cumbersome sometimes especially with lots of content
  • Bulk user operations and taking actions on behalf of other users would be good to have as well

Usability
Guru Technologies
I sometimes find myself clicking around trying to remember how to reorganize my cards especially if I want them in multiple folders. Other than that it's simple to use but not in a way that feels bare bones, more that it's very intuitive.

There is some occasional slowness, or multiple refreshes before content will load. This doesn't happen frequently, though, and I don't get complaints from teammates about it.

The only reason I do not give it a a ten is because I think there is still some room for improvement in meeting the different time zone needs of their customers, but overall their support is top notch. Friendly, capable, and quick.

Online Training
Guru Technologies
I would rate the online training for Guru a strong 8 out of 10. While it lacked the interactive nature of in-person sessions, the content was well-structured and delivered effectively. The training modules were clear and comprehensive, covering all essential aspects of using Guru. The flexibility of online training allowed me to learn at my own pace and revisit topics as needed. Overall, it provided a solid foundation and practical understanding of Guru's functionalities, making it a valuable learning experience despite the virtual format.

You will need a very strong team of guru champions in order to get EVERYONE and EVERYTHING on Guru, it takes some craziness and over talking about guru everywhere to get people to be exicted, contribute and use. If you are starting any kind of buisness and you need KB, just go for guru as fast as you can because when you will grow you will thank yourself.

Guru Technologies
Guru prioritizes the domain I work in, and their algorithm gives me results focused on my domain first. Depending on the search terms being used, then they provide what is most relevant to the term searched. Very often, this is a time-saving exercise. We also have access to how many people are reading each card, and we can offer feedback to the owner/deviser of a card if the knowledge there is outdated or if a few lines of information would add to the overall context. The data we can extract helps us understand potential gaps and where we could do better.

Savo, Google Drive, Shared folders Savo - was best in class a long time ago (and has since been bought by Seismic) - but required a lot of administrative work to setup and maintain. I had three people working on it full time to create pages and managing content. Shared folders and google drive are good to share content, but terrible at searching and tagging (not fully indexed and no tagging)

Contract Terms and Pricing Model
Guru Technologies
Guru is somewhat expensive compared to what our org is typically willing to spend on software solutions. Additionally, there is a price difference per seat when paid monthly versus annually, which was a big downside for us as my company didn't want to commit to an annual cost.

  • We can quickly generate product-specific proposals.
  • We've experienced repeated frustrations while trying to edit/update the LiveDoc.
  • Errors in LiveDoc coding have occasionally produced errors in the generated proposals where certain fields (Customer Name, for example) should have been automatically completed but were not.
