Kustomer is great for small and large teams. It has the flexibility to create routing and queues for additional segmentation of workflow, which is great for splitting the workload among reps. If you have a lot of systems that your reps need to use, this is a great option since it pulls them all together in one place.

WalkMe

Because our product allows a lot of freedom and customization, help is often needed to get started. WalkMe gives my team a tool other than just a static knowledge base article to help a customer. Until we were using WalkMe we had knowledge articles and video tutorials. The video tutorials were more engaging but took more time to create. Now in the time it takes, or less, to create a knowledge base article we are able to create an interactive guided experience

Pros

Kustomer

  • All customer data (past orders, communication with customer service, rewards account data) is in one place. This helps agents avoid confusion and reduces the number of tabs they need to open.
  • The Knowledge Base (or K Base) is very helpful. Any time we roll out a new policy or have a limited-time promotion, we can add all the relevant information and worksheets there for the convenience of the agents. That way they can stay in a chat while looking up the answer to a question.
  • We can seamlessly move from chat into email if the customer leaves or the queue times are too long. All the interactions will stay on the customer profile page, so they are kept up to date.

WalkMe

  • WalkMe provides guidance and information at the moment and in the location that users need it most. This means that the user does not have to hunt for information or get frustrated when they cannot complete a task.
  • WalkMe helps support teams by providing immediate solutions to either regular or one-off queries from users.
  • The WalkMe insights and visions help managers to track user journeys and understand user behavior. This ensures that managers can engage with users in a more productive way.

Cons

Kustomer

  • Small chat window--maybe the ability to chat in real-time with the person who received your ticket would help.
  • Different teams could have differently colored notes.
  • The notification bell could be a bit bigger. It's hard to keep track sometimes, when a lot of notes pile on.

WalkMe

  • The workflow builder feels a bit clumsy - and can be quite tedious.
  • There needs to be quite a bit of time investment in order to learn the platform efficiently.
  • WalkMe is a relatively expensive platform for the amount of effort it takes to build workflows (mobile functionality is an add-on).

Because it is easy to use as well as it serves as a very important tool for communication. It merges with different applications and there are no issues like other platforms.

WalkMe has done a great job of making their tool easy to use. However because it is a Firefox plugin it causes me to need another browser and sacrifice the left 2 - 3 inches of my display, when working on a laptop this makes it a bit painful. Also when publishing you can organize your list of walk-thrus, the window size is small and limited to the constraints of the WalkMe tool.

Kustomer Performances need improvement. The pages do load very slowly but that might be because of the information they carry. If Kustomer integrates with other software or systems it does slow the performance. They need to find a solution to this.

I think that it has been good. I am not the primary one in contact with Kustomer support. I know that we have experienced technical issues at different points, which has been frustrating, but in my experience, each problem has been quickly resolved. Working in a fast-paced environment, even fairly minor outages have a big impact, and this has happened to us a few times since using Kustomer.

The WalkMe Support Team was phenomenal. My support rep made a genuine effort to ensure my success with using the WalkMe Software. She was kind, patient, and very knowledgeable on the software. If there was a question she did not know the answer too, she would find the answer and get back to me as soon as possible

Alternatives Considered

Kustomer

The sales rep did a great job of making us feel heard and instilling trust. We felt that we would be valued as a client instead of just one of thousands, and a small company at that. When we signed they promised and delivered on an additional channel that they hadn't previously supported (toll-free MMS). The product just made sense and was innovative, which definitely gave them an edge.

WalkMe

Our organization reviewed several products before selecting WalkMe as the primary tutorial platform. We chose WalkMe because our primary business tutorial need is for Salesforce. WalkMe offers an incredibly easy-to-use and understandable walk-through and integrates incredibly reliably with Salesforce as a platform. Additionally, based on the feedback from others, WalkMe offered one of the better user experiences. The ability to click and follow overlay prompts worked extremely well for those involved.

Return on Investment

Kustomer

  • We’re getting so much positive feedback — which is not something you traditionally associate with a customer care team — because we’re making it effortless for customers to deliver both positive and negative feedback, and we can now resolve the bad feedback really really quickly.
  • Primarily from our increased efficiency with Kustomer, we’ve seen a significant reduction of $3 to $4 for every cost per contact.

WalkMe

  • They cost us tens of thousands of dollars by strong-arming us and refusing to cancel our contract because we missed the cancellation window by a few days. We had zero use for their product since it had been replaced with another product we already used, so if anything, they slowed down our ability to re-invest in our business.
  • Their NPS score feature was very buggy the first few months we started using it. The reports almost never pulled up in the admin panel, and when they did, the data was clearly inaccurate. The admin panel functionality was not even what we'd consider a minimum viable product. Clearly shipped too early. This prevented us from providing accurate NPS reports to our leadership.
  • Their walk-through product helped us get things off the ground, but looking back, we should have used better alternatives from the beginning.
