Red Hat
It has helped save us so much time, as it was designed to automate mundane and repetitive tasks that we were using other tools to perform and that required so much manual intervention. It does not work very well within Windows environments, understandably, but I would love to see more integration. I want it to be sexy and attractive to more than just geeky sysadmins.

TeamViewer
TeamViewer stands out when urgent remote support needs arise, such as fixing production errors or offering simultaneous support to remote colleagues. Finding solutions is most beneficial to organizations that have spread their development teams across different locations or those that support different clients at various locations.

Pros
Red Hat
  • Debugging is easy, as it tells you exactly within your job where the job failed, even when jumping around several playbooks.
  • Ansible seems to integrate with everything, and the community is big enough that if you are unsure how to approach converting a process into a playbook, you can usually find something similar to what you are trying to do.
  • Security in AAP seems to be pretty straightforward. Easy to organize and identify who has what permissions or can only see the content based on the organization they belong to.

TeamViewer
  • Give us internationally active remote access to DIAMES servers at customer side for support issues.
  • Give us the opportunity to present our DIAMES solution live to potential new customers without physical visits.
  • Enable us with three business locations on three continents sharing a common IT environment without physical visiting another of our business location.
  • Gives us the opportunity sharing a life problem in our DIAMES application with software tool providers when we recognize a problem for which we need support.
  • We are dealing with DIAMES customers in China, Europe and USA.
  • DIAMES is a Windows server based environment. With TeamViewer we can create a remote access to a life system environment.
  • With a strong and fast internet access TeamViewer enables us response time to actions like we would be on site.
  • TeamViewer is for us more reliable and more secure than a Anydesk access.
  • Our customer have been very happy about our support when Corona did not allow us any on site visit too.

Cons
Red Hat
  • YAML is hard for many to adopt. Moving to a system that is not as white space sensitive would likely increase uptake.
  • AAP and EDA should be more closely aligned. There are differences that can trip users of the integration up. An example would be the way that variables are used.
  • Event-driven Ansible output is not as informative as AAP.

  • The ability to send command line requests and troubleshooting without fully logging in when a connection is spotty or drops unexpectedly.
  • As mentioned above, with spotty connections, it would be nice if, while performing a file transfer and the connection fails, Teamviewer would automatically attempt to reconnect and resume the transfer if it had not been completed.
  • permission inheritance, I was made a company admin, and for a number of devices, I only have easy access. increasing my permissions has had to be done manually for each device in the group.

Even is if it's a great tool, we are looking to renew our licence for our production servers only. The product is very expensive to use, so we might look for a cheaper solution for our non-production servers. One of the solution we are looking, is AWX, free, and similar to AAP. This is be perfect for our non-production servers.

We need this tool in our day to day business. It is what we do all day remoting into clients devices. In this day and age we can access devices all over the world as long as we have secure internet connection. It certainly saves money in gas, and even if you are away you can help.

Compared to other products I've used (ConnectWise Control), TeamViewer is harder to set up and get connected. It is especially difficult to set up "permanent" unattended remote access, where you want to be able to connect to and control a remote computer without having to exchange codes and passwords every time you connect.

Performance
Red Hat
Great in almost every way compared to any other configuration management software. The only thing I wish for is python3 support. Other than that, YAML is much improved compared to the Ruby of Chef. The agentless nature is incredibly convenient for managing systems quickly, and if a member of your term has no terminal experience whatsoever they can still use the UI.

Support Rating

There is a lot of good documentation that Ansible and Red Hat provide which should help get someone started with making Ansible useful. But once you get to more complicated scenarios, you will benefit from learning from others. I have not used Red Hat support for work with Ansible, but many of the online resources are helpful.

the few times i have had to contact teamviewer support, they were very responsive and give me quick answers and seemed to understand my problems quickly and easily. I did not have to sit on the phone for hours on hold or get passed around to multiple phone support techs before finding a solution to my issues, so i would rate their support very highly.

As expected without any problem! Alternate in-person training is another efficient way to learn how a product works. There are many third party supporters for TeamViewer courses available that can give additional ideas how to use TeamViewer for specific functions and features as we did require in respect of our usage.

I have never used the online training either. I have watched a few informational videos that were helpful when learning how to do a specific procedure within TeamViewer and get the most out of the software by utilizing one of the many features that are available with the software. Again, 5 if for neutral.

TeamViewer
Starting two months ago, I began to see tangible economic benefits from using TeamViewer. Quickly, the travel cost reduction and increased productivity overcame the initial investment cost. However, it wouldn't work until everyone understood the software features, and success was contingent upon the complete training of all team members.

I haven't thought of any right now other than just doing our own home-brewed shell scripts. Command line scripts. And how does this compare? It's light years ahead, especially with the ability to share credentials without giving the person the actual credentials. You can delegate that within, I guess what used to be called Ansible Tower, which is now the Ansible Automation platform. It lets you share, I can give you the keys without you being able to see the keys. It's great

Horses for courses they say but all around, TeamViewer is the best software for remote management, period. Pulseway's remote desktop can work well on the phone app but on a desktop, it is often unreliable and drops connections. AnyDesk is not appropriate for our business and is only good on a case-by-case basis.

The benefits showed from the first day of use!
  • We have 12 local distributors of our products within our country, each hundreds of miles from our engineering department. Providing technical support without the remote access functions provided by TeamViewer would negatively impact our business since it would force us to mobilize specialized personnel with the costs that this implies.
  • Given the current state of technology, it is unacceptable for a customer to delay a repair until specialized personnel arrive. The benefits are not only measured in money but also in the speed of the solution. In short, more satisfied customers!
