IBM NS1 Connect is used by the devops team of my company to manage DNS connections of the IPs to the domain names and to manage the health of the DNS nodes health and monitoring all its IP to DNS mapping. The UI is used to monitor the connections and check DNS health.

Pros

  • Checking DNS health, whether it is active or inactive. Its ability to connect with IP.
  • Monitoring the DNS connections with IPs(which IP is connected to which DNS)
  • To check DNS availability

Cons

  • Its UI could be better
  • The costing is a little off according to the functionalities that it provides
  • Third party software integrations

Return on Investment

  • Management of DNS with automated alerts for on DNS downtime saving company money
  • Bad returns on the costing side, there could be other software considerations
  • Decent UI panel to check and monitor DNS connections

We use IBM NS1 Connect to manage our external DNS as out school. It works flawlessly. Easy to manage DNS records and review reports on how many hits our entries are getting. We also leverage the detailed reporting to see if there are entries that are orphaned or if something malicious might be happening.
