I'm the controller of the company and all the tools are in a cloud system for me to access it from different places (work or home), Parallels is the tool used in the organization that allow me connect to those tools in a secure manner. I normally use parallels clients on my PC but there is also time that I'm able to get information from my phone.
  • Secure connection.
  • Easy to use.
  • Compatibility with difference platforms.
  • Microsoft Surface compatibility with no intel cpu
  • iPhone functionality
  • Scanning features
As of now and for the way I use it, the application has been excellent and worked very well without any scenarios with issues. Part of my duties is to export files from our software to my personal computer, which is great be cause my local drives are MAP in the system and I can bring those easily.

We are using Parallels to improve the performance of terminal Services for our users in our office in the United Kingdom, where they connect back to our office here in Massachusetts. Because of the connection between our offices, using normal Remote Desktop proved to be fairly slow for the users. Once we were able to overlay Parallels, they found their performance improved greatly.
  • Allows Mac users to feel like they are working natively.
  • Better usage on tablets or phones for Windows apps.
  • Documentation is good but sometimes confusing.
  • Installing certificates is difficult.
If you have users that require remote access to applications, it's a great alternative to requiring VPN and standard remote desktop application. You can control the users' experience far better, and a user who has a better experience is a happier and more productive user. I also feel a little more secure opening this to the web than I do just a straight remote desktop portal.

We use Parallels Remote Application Server (RAS) to remotely use customers' Production Management System that is specially made for the plastics industry. That program is very heavy, almost impossible to use over a VPN connection. And very fragile on network breakage/errors. When using RAS the program stays on the server, and only screen is mirrored to the users computer. No network issues when local network is only used. If users connect to RAS breaks, the job continues where it left off when the connection gets back. RAS is pretty good for this environment, users like to use two screens on the RAS web version, but now we have to satisfy the one screen with tabs. RAS makes it also possible to use PMS on phones and tablets.
  • Mirror the heavy program to remote users screen
  • Works also on phones and tablets
  • Customer like to use at least two screens simultaneously on the RAS web version
When you need to mirror heavy programs over slow networks.
Programs that won't work on phones or tablets, but through server they would work.

We have coded in-house applications to gather real-time information about our manufacturing process that is hosted on parallels RAS servers and accessed from the parallels client for windows, IOS, and android. We are predominantly a Citrix environment, but I shifted a third of our licensing off Citrix to Parallels mainly due to the cheaper cost of parallels licensing. Parallels are much faster from launch to load for our end users, easily by a factor of 3-4X versus our XenApp servers. Typically most endpoints using parallels are for data entry (either manual entry or tied in with USB/network data points), product labeling to direct thermal printers (USB mainly) or warehousing use (paired with Bluetooth scanners for counting finished products).
  • Very easy from an administrative perspective to setup a gateway / load balancing.
  • Extremely fast connection speeds for launching published applications.
  • Flexible security for deploying MFA to targeted users. On competitor's software, it is an on or off setting that applies globally.
  • The client UI for launching apps could use an overhaul, a tabbed approach with favorites or recently used applications would be better than a listing of all published applications.
  • GPO option to lockdown the client interface so that settings are persistent from an administrative perspective.
Standing up a Parallels environment is so incredibly simple compared to other remote desktop solutions I have used over the years. The fact that the gateway is so easy to configure and deploy is a great selling point. Also, love the fact that the licensing model is per concurrent user which makes it very competitive with the other players in the space. In a few years when the rest of my Citrix licensing expires, I will likely migrate the rest of our environment to Parallels and not look back!

We are in the process of moving users to Parallels in order to replace our VPN. With Parallels we can control what the users have access to better than we could with our VPN or remote gateway. We liked it due to the ability to publish specific applications for users that don't have an assigned computer. This enables them to still be able to remote in as needed.
  • Remote application publishing.
  • Easy to install client app.
  • Remote desktop works surprisingly well.
  • Customer Service is responsive
  • Remote server install a little complicated.
  • Getting remote drives to work is a chore.
  • Setting up remote applications can be complicated.
  • MFA implementation
Parallels is good for when you need to have a one-stop place for your people to remote into company resources no matter the platform they are using. It's not so good if you have special use cases as it doesn't usually fit in those particular instances. Application publishing is where parallels really shines. Being able to integrate it with Active Directory so all you need to do is assign the user to an application security group and it shows up in their Parallels dashboard.

We use the Remote Application Server for deploying workspaces for our staff. All terminal software is automated by RAS. The greatest thing is very simple deploying of new software for users and powerful security settings

  • Crossplatform
  • Software deployment
  • Desktop virtualization
  • Easy administration
We often add new software for our company's work and share access to it. This program allows us to do it quickly thanks to flexible configuration and intuitive simple logic of work. And the farm scaling function gives us the opportunity to unload resources

The goal with Parallels Remote Application Server was to make a few specific Windows applications available remotely and in emergencies while a user's computer was being repaired or replaced. We were drawn to it because of how happy we were with their desktop offerings.
  • Remote access
  • Intuitive
  • Affordable
  • Complex
  • Does not play nicely on all cloud platforms
  • Difficult to maintain
This product would be better suited for medium to large size organizations with the infrastructure and I.T. staff needed to properly install and maintain it. It is also better suited to organizations wishing to offer more than just a couple of applications. Smaller organizations with limited cloud operations and staffing should seek out other solutions.

- We used Parallels to run applications/software for MAC users through AppsAnyWhere. - Also, parallels were used to access Desktops in our University’s labs. - One of the main problems that we faced was adding new Desktops. It caused to get all the other available Desktops/labs on AppsAnywhere to be down.
  • Giving access to different Applications and software
  • Giving access to Labs PCs/Desktops
  • Running windows on MAC
  • The connection is sometimes slow and even disappears
  • Sometimes unable to connect to some remote desktops
Allowing access to different windows Applications and software via individual devices from a shared server. And provide secure access to labs outside the campus for the students’ use. Through the pandemic, the students in our University were able to access all the needed software without the need to come on Campus. Also, some dedicated Desktops were used for Researches to complete their thesis.

We currently have all of our remote work running via Parallels Remote Application Server with multiple servers across our group internationally. This provides a great and easily manageable infrastructure with a versatile and reliable architecture that allows you to manage both users and devices connected to your network. It supports various forms of two-factor authentication. In our case, we use the Google authenticator as it also ties in with other services we use. It also allows us to set up redundant servers and have the ability to load balance on a per session basis. So that if we need to shut one of the production servers down for maintenance, it is easy to do so as it will push the sessions towards the other server.
  • Useability
  • Configuration
  • Administration
  • End-user setup
  • Support
  • Updating your server farm can be difficult
  • Unable to push pre-defined config files
This package is well suited for anywhere where a remote desktop is required for multiple users. It offers a great alternative to the bigger, more used Citrix while all being a well-contained package of services. It is vastly scalable with ease; all you have to do is install the services on a server and join it to the server farm. If you only need RDP for one or two users, it is not worth installing. Or if you are just trying to offer a gateway.

Our company develops software with C# for Windows. With Parallels Remote Application Server, we can publish our Windows client to our customers. Our customers have a cloud-like experience. The customer has a link on their desktop (Windows or Mac) and can start our program. The program starts on a server in the cloud, but the customer sees it on their computer. This is a great solution for us because we are working on transitioning to web-based, but we are not there yet. Customers want the cloud, so we provide it with this solution.
  • Replacing the old RemoteApp idea
  • Everything can be on one server, so no need for an extra domain controller
  • Branding the software with your own company style
  • Some site-to-site functionality, so the server can connect directly with the company
  • Protection on the RDP, HTTPS ports, with blocking IP on multiple wrong logins
If you are looking for RemoteApp, RDSH, VDI replacement with an all-in-one solution, this is a great option. Cloud, hybrid, or just on premise-based, it is all possible.

I don't have a less appropriate scenario.

It's a good product to use the Applications that are compatible with the Mac os X Platform and we have extensively used it during Pandemic especially provisioning programs like Rhino and ArcGIS and many other applications.
  • Great Flexiblity
  • Serving other Platfrom Centrally
  • Easy Management especially in Campus and from Off-Campus ever after Pandemic as we manage classroom and Lab spaces to maintain social distancing,
  • Faster Acceablity
  • Less Bandwidth Connection usage
  • maintaining constant sandbox connection for longer periods (sometimes it will time out earlier than specified and students loos the connectivity to the server)
Great Product to use for centrally hosted applications to serve multiple platforms we greatly used it during Pandemic and this gave us greater flexibility to go on online mode at the start of the pandemic. and still using even after Face 2 Face conversion to access the lab computers remotely to maintain the social distancing.

TSG Networks is a Value-Added Managed Service Provider which has been serving the San Francisco Bay Area for over 40 years. During that time, we have supported our clients by offering many different Remote Access options. There are some good options available today, however, the only one that offers seamless connectivity, with ease of use, at a reasonable price point is Parallels Remote Application Server. Being able to offer a product that offers "Best of Class" technical support is also a priority when you need it. These last two years have been trying for organizations of all sizes. Having this easy-to-use remote access offering has let our clients concentrate on their businesses's not their technology. Going forward many of these same businesses have decided to alter the culture of how their staff works by allowing them to continue to work remotely part-time and some even full-time. This would not have been possible without a way for employees to easily and securely access their company data. Thank You Parallels Remote Application Server for providing a product that makes TSG Networks look like a "Hero" to our clients.
  • Securely access sensitive company data.
  • Ease of use means less user training and support.
  • Though rarely needed having support at your fingertips is essential.
  • Getting SSL certificates is a bit cumbersome.
Some of our clients have staff nationwide that work full time from home. With Parallels Remote Application Server, they can securely and efficiently all collaborate on projects. Even clients that have offices worldwide express their satisfaction with how well they work remotely. Whether it's 9:00 am in California or 9:00 am in New York or 9:00 am in Cambodia, the staff is conducting business and being profitable.

At the start of the pandemic, we needed a quick, secure solution to get our workforce working from home. Using a combination of published desktop machines and Terminal server we were able to quickly bring users online as if they were sitting in the office without opening themselves up to messy VPN setups.
  • Easy to use
  • 2 factor integration
  • Detailed Logging
  • Increased 2 factor integration
  • Easier updates for end users
  • better 3rd party browser support within reporting
Parallels are the ideal product for a flexible workplace where users can come into the office or log on from home. It's useful in an environment where users use both their own machines and terminal server due to the ability to publish both terminal servers and user remote machines. It works great for us in the financial sector where security is paramount.

We use Parallels RAS not just for the publication of desktops to users, but for our in-house ERP app. RAS is the only remote access solution that we've used that has the customization options needed to publish this app successfully. It has plentiful, easily configurable, and granular options for each app published.
  • Security
  • Very easy to install, configure and use
  • Plenty of options to publish apps (client, HTML5, mobile apps etc.)
  • Frequent updates
  • Great support team
  • Third party integrations (e.g. Google Authenticator)
  • Public SSL Certs need to be wrapped which can be a faff (over complicated task) if you're not used to such things.
  • Make it easy to differentiate between local and remote users for licensing purposes.
  • Bring back per-user exclusions on Deepnet DualShield integration!
Parallels Remote Application Server makes publishing almost any LAN-based app to almost any device very easy. We've used it since it was "2X" and I can't think of any scenario in recent years that we've not been able to use it for any of our remote access requirements.

Our team is using Parallels Remote Application Server to work remotely on a virtual desktop to share its applications while maintaining data security. It can be hosted on a scalable cloud environment that can handle up to 100 concurrent users. It allows SSL connection, FIPS 140-2 encryption, and graphics acceleration using RemoteFX, providing you with an unmatched remote working solution.
  • Great remote working experience
  • Share applications and cloud resources across the organization
  • Keep vital applications and data secure
  • Cut the costs on applications
  • Maximum concurrent users is only 100 with the generic license
  • Can improve on graphics rendering
  • It could have a more seamless experience with remote apps
Parallels Remote Application Server is best suited for organizations to cut expenses on applications by allowing multiple users to work on the same virtual desktop remotely. This also allows any organization to keep its application and data secure while leveraging the power of a scalable cloud environment. It is not a suitable remote working solution for developers and designers.

Parallels [Remote Application Server] is being used across the entire organization to allow our staff secure cloud based access to our EMR. It allows us to deliver a legacy based applications to our users over a cloud based interface anywhere they may be working as long as they have some type of internet connection.
  • Cloud based, no software to install for users to access the HTML5 interface.
  • Simplicity of install. Very quick/easy to get up and running in minutes, not hours or days.
  • Constant development. Always adding new features, improving existing features and efficiency. They also listen to customer needs.
  • Active directory dependent. Would like to have other options for authentication outside of AD. Can use SSO with Google, etc but still needs to verify the user against AD for permissions.
  • There are a log of group policy options that can be used, some directly Parallels related, others Windows OS/Terminal Services specific. Would be nice to have a collection or guide of best used GPO options for performance, security, etc.
[Parallels Remote Application Server is] well suited for cloud based companies. With the HTML5 interface, users don't have any software to install and works across all current browsers. If you have a small deployment, you can actually install the entire system on a single server to reduce infrastructure costs. Has built in support for load balancing and redundancy. During the Covid-19 pandemic lock down our users had to go offsite and continue their studies and work remotely. We use Parallels [Remote Application Server]:
To delivery existing high specification Windows workstations to users off site (who have any device, basic PC, MacOS, Chromebook etc.)
To expand and automate delivery and access to software on the AppsAnywhere hub offsite using virtual servers to users with any device.
  • Automate remote connection to a computer from any device
  • Automate remote applications from any device
  • Integrates with AppsAnywhere application streaming
  • Application servers needed complex firewall settings access to license servers
  • Requires some Microsoft RDP licensing but little guidance offered
  • On premise version takes considerable IT resources to set up, allow 3 months
[Parallels Remote Application Server is] suitable for integration with AppsAnywhere application streaming, especially using existing workstations, when users are using their own devices to connect to any workstation in a pool.
Not suitable for booking the same specific workstation each time[.]

We deployed Parallels to replace VPN access for our entire organization. Employees are able to access network applications and resources by simply going to our Parallels web portal or using the Parallels client. We protect access with two factor authentication via phone push. Some of the main goals were to provide a simpler experience but also more secure. Employees can now use their own devices when needed.

When COVID-19 sent employees home, we were fortunate to have had Parallels already in production. We transitioned to a remote work environment and it was a totally smooth transition.
  • Ease of access for users.
  • Multiple security options.
  • Affordable.
  • Easy to design and deploy.
  • More options for identity management support (Okta, etc).

In our marine operation department, new applications require that we control all inventory in the company fleet. This application is not web-based. To run this application we should have access to the server remotely; without this application, we mistakenly buy materials twice or even more. To solve this we needed something to control this. The problem is that communication between ships and head office is very costly and slow.

Parallels RAS is used to provide remote access to our business applications for remote users, contractors, and consultants. It has been used by the whole organization, however, it has been utilized the most by dept. which outsources most of their functions to a 3rd party such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and purchasing. The application addresses the issue of offering a standard and easy way to access our business applications in a secured and controlled environment for remote users.
  • Redundant of publish and gateway servers.
  • Offers many ways to publish an application.
  • Load balancing to improve performance.
  • Secure access with SSL and integrated AD authentication.
  • SSL certificate need to manually import - automatic would be nice.
  • Lack of integration with VDI clustering vendors such as VMware, HyperV.
  • SSO with SAML or other technologies.
In a scenario in which you need to provide access to your business applications to remote users and you need a solution that can be deployed very quickly with easy maintenance and low cost, Parallels Remote Application Server is a perfect fit.

However, for remote access of computing resources such as CAD or CAM application, PRA may be not a good choice.
