Overall Satisfaction with Absorb LMS

We utilize Absorb LMS as our online course delivery platform for a large academic medical center with numerous off-site locations. Absorb LMS is a robust platform allowing us to deliver meaningful education to staff across the enterprise in an easy-to-use interface for end users with robust reporting options for educators and managers to continue to track staff compliance.

  • Wish there was an automated cadence of Sandbox refresh
  • Wish licensing was based on active users not just those added to the system (potentially issue related to our interface)

  • Learner engagement has certainly improved with the implementation of Absorb LMS from the previous platform.
  • Managers have been equipped to track employee compliance and training due to the ease of use with the application.
  • We have been able to add more robust training to our LMS due to the Absorb LMS platform which allows us to continue to achieve (and track) compliance across a geographically diverse landscape.
Absorb LMS is super user friendly, either for a learner or for an Admin. When we transitioned from Oracle to Absorb LMS, it took me no time at all to figure out how to navigate the system. When I transitioned into the Development role from a unit manager position, it was easy to learn the administrative functions I previously didn't have access to. It is an intuitive system with multiple options to reach the same goal which makes it easy for people to customize their workflows.

The Absorb LMS Analyze reporting tool has been a wonderful tool for those of us who manage the LMS, as well as the leaders in the organization. We have the capability to customize reports to show compliance, enhance those reports with graphs and other visual options that give the user an instant sense of the data. The Absorb LMS APIs work well to allow us to integrate user uploads into the application and occasionally do some bulk uploading of data into the LMS. (This functionality is handled outside of my immediate role, so I can't speak to it as fluently.)
The Absorb LMS Customer Support team is stellar. Any time we have had a question, concern or issue and reach out, we get an immediate response. For the rare times we have had an issue, we have been kept up to date and the team has worked very quickly to implement a solution. We have a client success manager who checks in with us, informs us of enhancements that are coming down the line, is a first source of answers for questions, and will quickly escalate any issues we bring up and continues to ensure our satisfaction with the Absorb LMS and its functionality. Their customer service is unparalleled.
We previously used the Oracle LMS function, as we utilize other Oracle products within the organization. Absorb LMS is a much more user-friendly, robust LMS tool which better suits the needs of our business with the growing geographic landscape and integration of other facilities into our system. The reporting features alone made it worth the investment in the change.

Using Absorb LMS

20000 - All business functions are required to complete training within the Absorb LMS from front line staff (EVS/Housekeeping) all the way up to the Vice Presidents of the organization and everyone in between.
2 - There are two LMS Developers who provide technical support/assistance with issues related to Absorb LMS but also help to create content that is uploaded into Absorb LMS for staff training purposes. We work with compliance, nursing educators, other clinical leaders and diversity teams to incorporate robust training content for them.

We love the ability to have a user-friendly system that integrates well with our different HR interfaces (we have 3 systems that feed data/employees into the system). It makes it easy to track course completions and report out on metrics enterprise-wide. In addition, the ability to provide consistent education to staff who are geographically dispersed is a huge incentive for us, and Absorb LMS does this seamlessly.

Evaluating Absorb LMS and Competitors

Yes - We replaced our former Oracle LMS. In our experience, the system was limited and extremely hard to use. Absorb LMS was a breath of fresh air with its ease of use and robust functionality compared with what we had been using.

Ease of use has to be the biggest factor in the organization's decision to change. Compliance numbers were suffering because, in our experience, the Oracle LMS system was just bulky, burdensome and often unreliable. Absorb LMS is easy to use from a personal laptop, from an on-site workstation or even from a phone. There are so many options for access and the ease of navigation has been a huge satisfier for our users. Compliance numbers have increased since moving over to Absorb LMS.
I don't have any idea how we would change our evaluation and selection process. We reviewed several LMS options and Absorb LMS best met our needs. It was a fair and equitable assessment, no comments on anything to change.

Absorb LMS Implementation

The implementation of Absorb went very seamlessly. We previously had the Oracle LMS and importing user data and getting the new system up to speed was painless. The smooth transition helped leaders and staff gain confidence early in the application/company and we have had a successful partnership with Absorb since.

Change management was minimal - I was in a different department when we transitioned to Absorb LMS. I know there was very little information shared about the transition of the LMS, but when we went to use it after it was implemented, the system was so easy to use, there really didn't need to be extensive training and communication about the changes as they were intuitive.

Yes, the product is very user friendly. We do offer admin training for some of the enhanced functionality available to the administrators of the system. However, once you are in the system, that functionality can easily be picked up.

Configuring Absorb LMS

I think the Absorb LMS product configurability is perfect for this type of product. We can customize messages on our page with our logo, we have the capability to pin certain bits of data for the learners or admins, etc.
We have hyperlinks on our admin homepage to direct users to submit tickets directly to the Absorb Admins relating to access, issues or course build customization. Saves users time/effort and ensures ticketing gets done properly. We can also leave messages regarding downtime and features, which is really beneficial, rather than inundating users with more emails.
Some - we have done small customizations to the interface - It was easy to add our logo and customize messages for learners and admins. We haven't had a huge need for customization, but what we did has worked out.
None that I am aware of.

Yes, we purchased some additional hours of premium support. This was due to some data integration needs we had as we had merged with different health systems, in order to merge/import data into the system. We usually only use our premium support for large scale data integration or dev requests.
Yes - Yes, I submitted a very random glitch. I brought it to Absorb's attention. Took a bit to get the error to be recreated, but once it was identified, it was resolved very quickly.
Anytime we have had an issue (downtime, glitch, odd occurrence), the customer service provided by Absorb LMS is top notch. They are very fast to respond, are very good at keeping us informed of the status of our ticket/incident. I wish all customer service I deal with in life was as efficient, friendly and knowledgeable as the Absorb LMS team.

Absorb LMS Reliability

This is one of the main reasons we chose Absorb as our LMS. It is a very user-friendly application that is able to be deployed across multiple departments in geographically dispersed locations. It works amazingly well for us.
The customer service team is top notch. They have always been readily available and quick to assist regardless of the day or time of the call.
Absorb LMS's performance is very reliable and consistent. Pages load quickly. Report are generated within a reasonable amount of time (even with significant amounts of data), etc. Nothing seems to slow it down.

Integrating Absorb LMS

Absorb integrates very nicely with various platforms that feed user data, different vendors that provide learning content to the organization and we never have had any issues with integration to this point.

I don't believe the depth was too particularly complex, but our technical guru handles all of the integration. Nothing appeared to experience issues or had a lengthy lead time for completion, so I would say all were achieved successfully.

The Absorb technical team is easy to work with and makes integrating Absorb with existing systems a straightforward and successful process.

Relationship with Absorb Software Inc.

I was hired into this role right after Absorb was implemented, so I do not have the details of working with the initial sales process. However, we have had meetings with the sales team since regarding new features and enhancements and that team is super friendly and knowledgeable, shares the information in a meaningful way without being overly pushy with the sales aspect of things.
We have quarterly check-ins with our CSM and she (and everyone at Absorb we have encountered) are very fast to respond, troubleshoot or answer questions and will escalate anything that is outside of their purview to someone who can quickly assist with a resolution or answer. I have nothing but positive things to say regarding our collaboration with everyone encountered at Absorb. I wish all of our vendor experiences were as positive.
I believe this question speaks to additional professional service hours that we had built into our contract to work with a set of staff members for purposes of changes or enhancements to our specific instance of Absorb. Again, I have nothing but positive things to say regarding our dealings with people at all levels of the organization. The PMs, the technical experts, the help desk staff are all friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and efficient.
I do not know the specific details of our contract with Absorb. I know we had designated a number of users, a number of professional service hours, access to Absorb and some advanced features include the Analyze reporting tool. Aside from that, I don't have that level of information.
I was not involved in the contract negotiating/terms for the purchase of Absorb.
Absorb is an amazing company in which to partner. The
service provided by Absorb is unparalleled. The speed in which Absorb responds
to incidents and their follow-up is stellar. Our partnership with our client
success manager helps to keep us up-to-date with updates/changes/maintenance. We couldn't ask for a better working relationship with a service provider. They seem much more than a vendor, they are truly a partner.
