Overall Satisfaction with Adobe PhotoShop

I used Adobe PhotoShop to edit photos and create content for the website, social content, videos, and more. This professional level editing software saved our team money because we could make all our content in-house in a much more efficient manner than hiring out a third-party content vendor. There was no waiting around for email conversations back and forth - I could just create and edit on the fly as needed.

Pros

  • Photo editing
  • Creating raster graphics for web
  • Digital painting/illustration

Cons

  • Extremely steep learning curve
  • Cost is prohibitive for personal use
  • Additional user seats are expensive for small teams
  • Saved thousands of dollars on contracted graphic designers
  • Saved days of worktime by designing in-house
Adobe PhotoShop is a professional-grade tool that requires months/years to get a grasp of how to use it well. Even then, after over a decade of using Adobe PhotoShop both casually and professionally, I feel like I'm still unfamiliar with a large percentage of the available tools. Without a dedicated training program, it can be extremely overwhelming and/or you may not get good use out of it. That being said, once you do get comfortable with it, the layout and workspace are excellent with myriad shortcuts that speed up your workflow exponentially. Put in the time to learn it, and you'll love it.
I used all of these for different reasons. For a quick job that is a duplicate of previous efforts, Canva can get the job done. For actual illustration, Clip Studio Paint is a better choice for drawing. Adobe PhotoShop is the all-arounder, though, that can accomplish any of the tasks you need for image editing.

Do you think Adobe PhotoShop delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Adobe PhotoShop's feature set?

Yes

Did Adobe PhotoShop live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Adobe PhotoShop go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Adobe PhotoShop again?

Yes

If you create imagery for any online content or print, Adobe PhotoShop is an absolute necessity for professional-level editing. Simple tools like Canva can get the job done in a pinch, but they are so limited relative to Adobe PhotoShop's extensive capabilities. From the brush packs to the ability to create vector paths with the pen tool, you're only limited by your own creativity, not the available templates in lightweight alternatives.
