Overall Satisfaction with Adobe Workfront

We used it to manage projects across various teams. We could set deadlines, add dependencies and track deliverables across the entire project lifecycle. One project manager would create a project from a template and then assign resources to the project (some assigned automatically, some assigned through traffic management).

Pros

  • Informative dashboard
  • Easy to create templates for repeating projects
  • Time management tools

Cons

  • Not always intuitive for setting cascading deadlines
  • Deliverable proofing tools focused on editing PDFs
  • Reporting output not always formatted "right" on the first try
  • Less confusion on who is working on what, when
  • Clear, easy to follow "to-dos" every day, and a clear picture of who is available for more work
  • Fewer missed deadlines
We try to keep all communication about a specific project within Workfront, so that it's easy to reference a prior decision and understand why a specific choice was made. It also helps someone picking up an old project and continuing it, or someone building a new project based on an old one. All the communication is archived for easy reference.
By putting everyone in the company on the same program, we're able to unify departments; the technical writing team tracks their deliverables, the solution architects track theirs, the web team tracks theirs. Everyone knows when they're expected to start working and nothing falls through the cracks. I especially like how people can fit certain "roles" and have the role slot in for templates, so a template might call for any technical writer and then you can assign a specific one when you create a specific project.
Workamajig is great specifically for marketing project management. Jira is great specifically for software development project management. However, if you want all of the company on the same PM software, you need something less purpose-built. Asana is good for both, but lacks some of the polish of Adobe Workfront, like proofing tools.

Do you think Adobe Workfront delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Adobe Workfront's feature set?

Yes

Did Adobe Workfront live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Adobe Workfront go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Adobe Workfront again?

Yes

It's great for tracking projects that aren't technical/programming focused. There are better PM tools for software development that are more purpose built, but for large scale project management where cross-functional teams are all working together, Workfront is great. It's especially good for tracking creative projects, like an ad campaign or an email blast.
