Overall Satisfaction with Airtable
I am the Artistic Director of an improv theater and school in Providence RI. After using an array of spreadsheets to collect and organize student and performer information, I ran across Airtable in a Google search. Just in the free version, I created a completely usable database. Airtable solved problems I had using spreadsheets and looking more deeply into the program I so much potential for bigger organizational fixes.

- Airtable does a great job of organizing personal information gather for running an organization. (Name, Address, Phone, etc...)
- Airtable allows you to create many small groups of information. My organization uses it to house current and previous class rosters: Students taking an instance of a class, teachers and dates connected with that class and other bits of information like pictures and link to videos and other websites connected with the class.
- When connecting multiple events/classes/activities to an individual person, Airtable creates an easy to read/view profile or record of that individual.
- When looking at the expanded view of an individual record, the ability to see complete information of other connected records saves time from having to manually search for them.
- The available help and tutorials offer a lot of information for new users.
- I wish the examples provided when opening an account were more complex. I think the simple concepts they show are easy to figure out already, but the next level of ability is a bigger hurdle.
- When formatting columns there isn't an auto-fit width option (that I can find)
- I ended up doing a lot of data entry when I first started, because the excel file inputs didn't work out as well as I had hoped.
- Airtable greatly simplifies administrative work when dealing with new students and class entries
- The views in Airtable help provide only needed data to colleagues
- The beginning stages of Airtable are very inspirational, and makes you excited about what other benefits you can find within the system to help your organization.
When I started collecting Data on Google Drive, I set up the spreadsheets with a specific goal in mind for what it could be.
