Appian is being used across the whole organization both as a Low-Code development BPM tool to develop and use the various applications across different Business Units.
It is being very helpful in developing various banking applications like loan processing and claim settlement to name a few in easy to use manner.

Sometimes finding OOTB functionalities is difficult specially for first time uses
In-Line help could be improved further to help new learners
The new Appian Certification levels are a bit confusing

Return on Investment

Appian is a superlative tool helping develop our codes much faster than what software we were using earlier, thus reducing our development costs
It has helped us reduce the time to market our application which has resulted in increased ROI
Product Quality has improved directly impacting our profits

Support Rating

We have been one of big customer of Appian and one of the reason being it's superlative support. The overall support from Appian is just one of the best in Software Industry. Their attitude towards serving their customer is what makes them the leader in the industry. The Appian Community is also a great help for quick answers to some of the queries.

Usability

Appian provides easy to use low-code development platform. In Agile methodology, Appian really helps developers create working draft applications to demo the users and get their feedback. The usability is top-notch with additional features wherein even the end users having no knowledge in software development can configure some rules and make them work as per quick change requirements.

Appian is well suited for large scale applications as it's easy to scale as our business grow and also to integrate new features into the applications is very easy. Also risk is reduced a lot while scaling unlike some other Workflow management tools in the market.
Just my thought Appian might not be very well suited for small organizations considering its licensing costs.
