Appian is an excellent BPM tool to design and deliver business solutions quickly and reliably. With Appian, creating workflows and managing processes is very easy. It comes with lots of out-of-the-box functionalities to ease and manage the business functionalities.
In our organization, we use Appian at full capacity to deliver the best for our clients. It is continuously evolving and always tries to meet the market requirements such as Artificial Intelligence, Document Processing, Robotic Process Automation, etc.
If you are stuck somewhere, it has a great community too where other professionals and even Appian employees are ready to help.

Support Rating

We have faced many scenarios where we got stuck with something or the system is not performing very well. In all those cases, we had the Appian support helping us to identify and rectify the issues. Recently, one of our reports started performing slow, since then, we are having the meetings with the Appian support continuously and they are suggesting us multiple ways to improce. Community wise also, it has a great community where other certified professionals and Appian employees are ready to help.

Usability

For the last 2 years, I have been using Appian to design, develop, troubleshoot and debug applications. Being a developer, it is very easy to work on Appian, thanks to its user interface. Since it has a cloud-based solution, it is easy to access it from anywhere over a trusted and secure network. It makes process designing easy and even non-tech users can design it, thanks to Analyst View. To demonstrate the Proof of Concept, it even allows the team to create Quick Apps and get feedback from the business.

Alternatives Considered

I did not get chance to work on the other BPM tools but I am pretty sure that Appian will outstrip others in terms of Process Designing and Management, Scalability, Security, Performance and ease of use.

Appian is best suited in the scenarios where you want to automate a business process which includes handling multiple manual and time taking tasks OR integrating with other systems to manage the data and the processes OR something similar. It can be used to eliminate paperwork and make things fast and more reliable.
Where not to use Appian? If you are delivering a product to a normal Joe, then Appian might not be a good choice to go for. It is more into B2B.
