Overall Satisfaction with AppsFlyer
AppsFlyer is our attribution platform for mobile app installs and mobile app activity after installs. It basically lets us know which marketing campaigns are leading to the most installs then activity in our application, so we can focus on marketing campaigns that actually drive ROI. On top of that, it helps determine the ROI of marketing campaigns with easy digital integrations for Facebook, Google, and other display networks.
- ROI reporting: something most competitors don't have.
- Activity tracking: a full attribution platform to judge activity from a campaign.
- Easy setup: not too many lines of code for our developers.
- Ads integration: easy 1 to 2 step integration for digital ad networks.
- Dynamic Links are kind of ugly. They're super in-depth to set up and work fantastically, it's just that unlike Branch or Firebase AppsFlyer links are long, not customized, and ugly. I always need to hide them in a bit.ly which is a pain.
- No automatic dynamic links -- we couldn't use it to share inside the app and measure the results of a referring a friend campaign.
- Allowed us to measure ROI correctly. We couldn't before.
- Cut our Facebook ad and Google Adwords costs per install almost in half.
- Added a few extra cents to each install, but it's worth it when looking at the optimization of the ads.
The biggest problem with AppsFlyer is that there's no free tier. It's solely pay per install, which is nice for small teams and startups, but Branch.io is free up to a couple thousand to tens of thousands of MAU's!
Branch also has features and benefits that AppsFlyer just doesn't, such as text to app install, automatic dynamic links, custom short links, and so much more.
If you're building from scratch, go with Branch and use a data analytics platform that integrates well with them such as a Mixpanel (which also does attribution but is not as robust as Branch, so use the integration).
