Overall Satisfaction with Avalara
We are an online auction house that ships all over the States, as well as internationally. We track Nexus in all 50 states with Avalara's AvaTax. So far, we absolutely love what it has done for us. We have triggered in 5 states outside our home state of Kentucky. We also use the exemption function to store our customer's contact information as well as their exemption certificate numbers, if applicable.
- Uploading bulk transactions

- The sales rate locator tool
- I wish I could go in and look at transactions with more filters, i.e. Customer name, description, etc.
- I wish the map would keep the states highlighted once you've triggered Nexus. Instead, the states recently-triggered disappear once you register them.
- I would really like to be able to select any state - at any given time - and see what our "dollar amount" is in that state, regardless of whether or not we are near triggering in that state.
- Number of staff required. Instead of hiring someone specific for sales tax, I am now able to work on other things.
- General compliance. We have now properly registered with 5 states that we have recently triggered Nexus in, thanks to Avalara.
- Negative: my boss is on my butt because the system works too well! Haha!! .... by that, I mean that owners don't always understand that it IS more expensive to be compliant!!!
- We attempted to integrate our invoicing software, specific to the auction industry: Wavebid. Did not work.
In my opinion, it was impossible to achieve integration.
- Professional Services (nexus studies, registrations, backfiling, etc.)
We have not used these functions.
