Overall Satisfaction with BigCommerce
BigCommerce is used across nearly the whole organization to handle customer sales, everything from visitors to the eCommerce site, to custom orders directly entered into the system. We use the platform to manage workflow and keep track of order information, including inventory and stock levels. Our entire workflow is based around BigCommerce platform including preparation of shipments. We couldn't possibly handle such a high volume of customer orders with such a small limited staff without such an easy intuitive interface.
Pros
- Flexible platform which is easy to integrate with existing systems
- Intuitive layout which is easy to navigate
- Superior customer service ready to help however possible to keep your store up and running
- Constantly innovating to keep up with a changing industry
- Extensive knowledgebase full of useful information to help get your store up and running fast
Cons
- No way to provide customers with order shipping estimates based on current queue when some items take longer to manufacturer than others
- Analytics features are useful but limited in capabilities. You'll want to use an external system for deeper data analysis of visitor and sales trends
- Default inventory management system is very basic and contains no method for reviewing history of inventory adjustments/changes for auditing purposes
- Increased SEO through proper data structures and formatting
- Reduced workload by increasing efficiency of worklow, shipping orders has never been faster and easier!
- Increased site reliability with consistent uptimes
- Increased customer conversation rates with use of internal product reviews system.

We have been using the QuickBooks integration since the beginning. It wasn't quite as reliably a few years ago, but recently it's become extremely stable and reliable. Having all sales data integrated directly into QuickBooks greatly reduces the workload required for accounting. Additionally we use Mailchimp for Email integration which has been working well. There are so many existing integrations available for BigCommerce we haven't had any need for a custom solution which can't be solved with an existing system.
There were several eCommerce platforms available on the market, some more affordable than others. However I take security and privacy extremely seriously and wanted to ensure the protection of my customer data, so I spent time researching all the top contenders at the time (2013) before settling on BigCommerce because they had the highest ratings in customer satisfaction at the time, and the most extensive knowledgebase to help a new customer get started building their website.
I needed a partner I could trust to manage the technical side of things, while I focused on managing and growing the business tending to the customer's needs. Time and time again, BigCommerce has proved that not only are they constantly innovating, but also providing superior customer service to assist in any way possible help keep your store open and running as it should.
