Overall Satisfaction with BigCommerce
We currently use BigCommerce as an informational website and a private e-commerce platform for select customers. We had it built by a marketing firm a few years ago, and we currently maintain the site content and pages, as well as the functionality of the e-commerce site. We do not have a lot of interaction with the site other than the few people who deal with the clients and their private e-commerce site. Although it is small, it does address the fact that we are able to offer a small portion of our customers the feature to order online and receive a quick response.
Pros
- Ease of use for page modification without much HTML experience needed
- Relatively quick navigation
- Good template selection
Cons
- A bit constrained on modification within a template
- Was difficult to set up different client e-commerce pages
- Be able to add a product multiple times for different customers without changing the model number would be nice.
- Allowed quick access to a few customers after hours
- Allowed us to build up our contact list of customers
- Increase average order value for the customers that use the private e-commerce
Less than $20,000
We had a marketing firm build our site on the BigCommerce platform and we only maintain and modify it now that it is up and running. I am unaware of us using any of the open APIs and integrations other than what was put in place at the time of the build. We probably did not learn enough about the BigCommerce platform and options, but that is what we relied on the marketing groups to do. We are now with a different marketing group and, probably due to their experience, they feel that other platforms are easier to customize.
I do not recall the name of the platform that we previously had our website hosted on. It was a pretty archaic site that allowed little to no maintenance by myself or my team without extensive training. I have used WordPress in small personal site builds in college and found it to be pretty nice and straight forward, but maybe not as robust as a large company might need.
