Overall Satisfaction with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT

Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT is the new donor database for our organization. It handles all alumni and donor records, provides a workspace for our fundraising staff, analytical tools for researchers, dashboards for staff & the board, and more. Every member of our division will be using it. Part of the goal in moving to Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT was to have our data be more accessible and useable for the staff and give us functions that resided in a single system.
  • User-friendly interface
  • Functional dashboards that are customizable to the end-user needs
  • Easily sections off information so that particular data points can be found in a record easily
  • Some of the terminology used is not industry standard and can feel a little awkward to use
  • A database view is highly functional for system experts, but not particularly user-friendly to many end-users
  • web view is highly user-friendly, but lacks some of the capacity

This is our first year of use, so we haven't seen the impact yet. but we expect to use data intelligence and analytics to inform all of our processes in our annual giving strategy, leadership giving opportunities, portfolio development, and more. We expect the ease of access and more user-friendly aspect to enable fundraising staff to access data more quickly and be responsive to it.
  • Online Training
Timing doesn't fit well: there's an attempt to do a lot of training and education prior to going live with your database, and until you're actually working in the systems it's very hard to retain the material shown in the training. While the material itself is reasonably effective, trying to execute it early in the process of data conversion is less effective.
Our success in using FPM is one of the reasons Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT was such a strong contender to be selected. Our experience with that product and with the customer support, product improvement, etc helped increase our confidence in Blackbaud as a partner. We expect Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT to be a superior product to Talisma, which has not received the same level of product improvement and support that we see and expect in Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT. Blackbaud Raiser's Edge NXT is a more user-friendly product where it is easier to extract more capacity for fundraising staff.

Great for a professional fundraising organization with full-time staff, particularly one with lots of complex relationships and a sophisticated fundraising strategy. High appropriate for developing major gift portfolios for a team of gift officers, as well as managing annual giving and leadership giving strategies. Cost & complexity may be prohibitive for smaller organizations, particularly ones that don't have a dedicated analyst or database manager to support front-line fundraising staff.
