Overall Satisfaction with BrowserStack
We moved to remote working in 2020 and managing our physical devices with the QA members was costly and difficult.
We use BrowserStack to do manual testing on our iOS and Android Self-Care applications.
We use BrowserStack to do manual testing on our iOS and Android Self-Care applications.
Pros
- Large range of device from many manufacturers.
- Can enable network traffic to see the API traffic.
- Can take screen capture and recordings from the interface.
- Real devices not emulators so the testing is more accurate.
Cons
- We are down every few months due to billing issues and it takes a few days to get everything sorted. BrowserStack doesn't seem to have caught up yet with how enterprises bill through purchase orders.
- iOS does not have 12.5 only 12.3 and 13 so we cannot test 12.5 which is the lowest we support so we still need a physical device for this.
- Enabling iOS network traffic does not always work especially on the newer versions, or it takes a long time to enable with the restart when you enable this option.
- Remote Physical Device Farm
- Easy to install apps
- Good breadth of tools
- Tools have network traffic monitoring support
- Can be used to work with CI
- Can be used to work with test automation
- Allows us to be nimble when testing
- Apps can be deployed much quicker than on a physical device in hand
- We can reproduce bugs reported on the same device
- Faster QA phase when BrowserStack is operating
Remote work was a challenge to manage physical device inventory.
- App Live
Yes, we can easily deploy new apps from multiple sources and do manual testing.
