BrowserStack is a great multipurpose testing solution for development teams

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We primarily use the Live, App Live, Accessibility Testing and Percy for testing purposes across our estate. This is segmented across a number of different platforms we support within our support division. We are starting to move more into the testing automation space, however we still use other tools for that purpose.

Pros

  • Excellent live testing to simulate functionality across a variety of devices, operating systems and devices.
  • Good AI capabilities within Percy to help automate visual tests which speeds up QA and regression testing.
  • Provides a variety of testing tools and functionality in one suite of products which makes it easier to manage users and access.

Cons

  • For large organizations, any improvements that can be made to manage licenses and access controls would be helpful.
  • Integrate performance/load testing to replace other tools like Blazemeter.
  • Make it easier to migrate testing frameworks from other applications like TestRail and at a competitive cost.

Most Important Features

  • Live Testing for GeoIP based troubleshooting
  • Percy for visual testing
  • Mobile application testing

Return on Investment

  • Providing a comprehensive tool kit makes it easier to manage efficiently
  • The more we can automate, the more we can tend to future development and improvements

Great Cross-browser live mobile device testing support

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I have repeatedly used Browserstack ever since I discovered this tool back when I was the first QA resource at a small web agency. It gave us an edge above other competitors in the CMS implementation space because we were able to provide a thorough list of devices we would test against in our contract and then utilize Browserstack to hit that commitment. We mostly used it to supplement real device testing on new websites we were designing/integrating and gave us the confidence we needed to have a thorough QA signoff process.

At the time I even reached out to Browserstack a few times with issues we noticed and were able to collaborate on fixes. When I moved on from that company, I still took Browserstack with me, often using just a small person account to confirm things when needed. Whenever possible I would suggest the tool as an official tool for my teams and we ended up using Browserstack at several other companies I have worked for.

Pros

  • Reliable cross-browser, cross-device testing
  • integration with JIRA to add screenshots directly to bugs etc
  • Live mobile device testing for an extra layer of confidence
  • Customer support has been very consistent and reliable
  • User interface is incredibly simple to use and easy to train new users on

Cons

  • Although real mobile device testing is advertised, I found that sometimes there were minor discrepancies with how something could look on a device in front of me vs Browserstack. It wasn't often and customer service was always quick to work with me on this.
  • Reliability/uptime isn't quite as high as I would expect
  • I was with Browserstack back in 2014 when they had their security breach and I wasn't super happy about that, but they've done well since then so I'll let that one slide.

Most Important Features

  • Cross-browser testing support
  • Real device testing support
  • JIRA integration

Return on Investment

  • Browserstack improved our internal confidence level when it came to signing off on testing
  • Browserstack improved the confidence level of our clients by decreasing the number of bugs found during PVT and providing an entry level opportunity for our clients to perform UAT using the same tools.

Efficiency Meets Innovation How BrowserStack Transforms Test Workflows

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We address low code test features, web browser security feature tests, test planning, test coverage, automation and accessibility using BrowserStack solutions. More on we do API automation, accessibility automation, also we have gained client confidence while we deployed test management and analytics tools from BrowserStack. We have been using requestly services in spite of using postman tools, pretty much easier ways to mock the endpoints.

Pros

  • Website scanner products are well defined and established
  • AI agent integrations into tools
  • Innovate more and more test tools
  • Integrated environment support for mobile and web apps

Cons

  • Transparency on data used or consumed for login and authorization purpose
  • BrowserStack tool support on pypi or any other open source repositories
  • Making tools integrated with frameworks of java and python

Most Important Features

  • Percy
  • Website scanner
  • Accessibility testing
  • Bug capture

Return on Investment

  • Reduce the testing efforts
  • Improve the test efficiency
  • Improve the release to market time
  • Low investment into trainings

Usability

BrowserStack pocketdynamo Capabilities Constraints and Use Cases

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We primarily use BrowserStack for cross browser testing and cross device & mobile testing. The main business problems which we are addressing using this tool is that we are able to test our application performance on real mobile devices not just emulators and validating the responsiveness and behaviour on different screens.Apart from that we are also able to emulate certain applications in Windows XP emulator( to test the applications running on old IE9 browser for few products of ours)

Pros

  • Provides well set up emulators for mobile testing
  • Provides the complete setup for cross browser testing needs
  • Test locally hosted or staging apps in BrowserStack Local

Cons

  • Can improve the readabality of the UI interface for clear understanding
  • Can include Desktop Automation features
  • Can improve the performance side of the tool for bulk testing
  • Can improve the number of parallel tests which can be carried out in the license plan

Most Important Features

  • Cross browser compatibility
  • All Mobile Emulators supported
  • Test on Real mobile device supported
  • Different version of any browser supported

Return on Investment

  • 75% ROI is achieved using BrowserStack specifically on Mobile testing needs on diferent emulators
  • Cross Browser Testing is also huge positive on ROI front
  • Negative impact is license cost is somewhat on higher end so can provide license to entire team

LIGHTNING FAST TESTING.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use BrowserStack to test all operating systems and browser combinations that our platforms support. BrowserStack helps us to identify bugs in our software reported by our customer base without having to purchase all operating systems that they use.

Pros

  • Provides almost every combination of real world user experience.
  • Ability to determine bug reports and reproduce problems in a timely manner.
  • I wouldn't be able to perform my integration testing as a QA professional without BrowserStack.

Cons

  • The ability to test emails via specific operating systems; we had a bug happening via Outlook on a specific operating system only. I reached out to support and this is not something currently possible in BrowserStack.

Most Important Features

  • Updated Browsers.
  • All new operating systems.
  • Mobile devices for testing.

Return on Investment

  • We would be lost without BrowserStack.
  • The ROI of using BrowserStack is that we don't have to purchase every operating system or mobile device to perform our testing.
