Overall Satisfaction with Camtasia

Our company uses Camtasia mainly for internal training videos; however we have recently started using it for external training videos and webinar recordings as well. Although I have the full Adobe Creative Cloud Suite including Premiere Pro, I prefer Camtasia for its ease of use. You can watch their useful training videos and be up and running with recording and editing in less than an hour.
  • Internal employee software training videos. This is where Camtasia really excels, as you're able to record all your screen activity and add highlights, call-outs, etc. to your video during the editing phase.
  • External pre-recorded webinars or training.
  • Editing post-webinar recordings for later distribution.
  • I haven't yet come across something I've wanted to do and haven't been able to do.
  • Even when it takes you a bit to figure out how to do something, or where to go to find it, there's probably a training video or other help files available.
  • We've been able to provide our employees with timely training information. For example, teaching the basics of using Salesforce in our organization.
  • We've been able to provide training videos for clients that are more polished than just recording a presentation. The ability to edit audio and video, add transitions and fades, add call-out boxes and text... all add to a nice finished product.
  • Our marketing team is always juggling multiple projects... Camtasia's ease of use translates into quicker project completion.
Camtasia is much easier to use, and more importantly much easier to learn. If you're needing to learn video editing quickly or are looking for a screen recording solution, Camtasia is a clear winner. While not as in-depth or feature-rich as Premiere Pro (which is a wonderful product, don't get me wrong), it has more than just the basics to give you a finished product you'll be proud of.
Camtasia really excels with such uses as internal employee software training videos. You're able to record all your screen activity and add highlights, call-outs, etc. to your video during the editing phase.
It certainly doesn't have all the bells and whistles of Adobe Premiere Pro, but for the average business user or marketing team, it should meet your needs and is much easier to learn quickly.

Using Camtasia

3 - Our marketing team is the primary user of Camtasia. We create both internal training videos (for example, to teach our sales team how to use Salesforce) as well as training videos for our clients.
Our IT team also uses Camtasia to create internal and external videos on how to use our proprietary client-facing software.
1 - There really is not a need for in-house support of Camtasia. There are plenty of tutorials and help files available on Camtasia's website in addition to add-ons such as images and video snippets. Other than possibly needing an IT staff to install the software because of company policy, an end user would not need in-house support.
  • internal training videos of proprietary software
  • external training videos of proprietary software
  • external training videos of content
  • internal training videos of general software such as Salesforce
It's a great solution for the price.

Evaluating Camtasia and Competitors

  • Price
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
It's much easier to get up and running with than Adobe Premiere Pro, which is part of the Adobe Creative Suite we subscribe to. Camtasia allowed us to get up and running... and get to a final product... much quicker because there was less time required to learn how to use the software, and the tutorials were very easy to follow.
We would not change the process.
