Overall Satisfaction with Certify

Certify is in use across the organisation as our expense reporting and travel booking system. Our management teams use it to track and approve expenses in a single system, report on expenditures, and make decisions based on those reports. Our users use it to book travel, research experiences across the team, and submit expense reports for reimbursement.
  • Integration with AmTrav or other travel booking systems. Certify has a tight integration with travel systems that makes it feel nearly like one cohesive tool.
  • Easy expense options. Use OCR on receipts, import from credit cards and merge items, approve and inquire about expenses. Track your submissions.
  • Easy UI. Friendly and easy to navigate without getting lost.
  • Mobile app. The mobile app is basically a web view of the mobile version of the page and isn't native. That experience could be much smoother.
  • Certify hasn't implemented SSO completely according to the SAML 2.0 protocol, so which IdP workflows work, SP is still broken. This makes it harder to take action from a link in an email as you always need to use the IdP workflow specifically.
  • We have reduced the amount of time our operations department has to spend booking flights to 0.
  • Hotel bookings have been greatly streamlined and we are looking to eliminate human interaction with this process once CC authorisations are handled.
  • We have eliminated the wait time between operational travel research and client approval time -- it can all be handled in one single step now.
Certify has perhaps an issue with customer support. From the admin side, we aren't able to get certain features to work and there just don't seem to be solutions to them. For instance, SSO: IdP works, but SP does not. Instead, the emails that would normally allow us to "approve" requests now simply point users through the IdP auth workflow and that has limited functionality. We await more direct solutions, but they don't come.
Employees love Certify on the web. It is easy to use, provides visual feedback, sets clear expectations, and allows employees to get things done fast.

The mobile app, though, is clunky. It's certainly usable, but the interface leaves a lot to be desired and it just so happens that since the "easiest" way to scan receipts is through the app, the app could use some native updating.
I've only briefly looked at Concur as an expense platform and it came close to what Certify offers. The interfaces are similar, the functionality is basically the same, and a lot of companies use both systems. I think that it comes down often to price between the platforms. Concur offers a lot of different pricing and feature sets, which may make it more ideal to smaller businesses. Certify is standard, with a bit of flexibility baked in, which may make it an easier decision for medium-sized organisations.
Certify is excellent as a platform. It allows for integrations with common systems like Amtrav and can be used for more than simple expense reporting. It is excellent for the small to medium business market and handles most things very well.
Beware if integrations break as it is difficult to get support on the platform itself.
