Overall Satisfaction with Cloudflare

We use Cloudflare's DNS and registrar products, as well as their Zero Trust platform. The DNS and registration are really great, and we prefer using them over any other registrar, but the Zero Trust platform has been a game-changer for us. We've completely replaced our VPN with Cloudflare, and it has been dramatically easier to use, more reliable, faster, AND more secure all at the same time.

  • Allowed us to implement much stricter security than we previously could, all without causing more friction for our employees. It actually made things easier than before.
The other solutions had aspects of what we were looking for, but either they didn't match all of the requirements we were trying to meet, or they just approached the problem in a way we didn't like. We really wanted a serverless cloud-first solution that could connect from anywhere and scale up or down based on our needs seamlessly without costing a huge amount of money.
We are small enough that we couldn't justify one of the plans that include onboarding, so it was all self-serve. There are a few parts of the documentation that are a little confusing and took some trial and error to figure out, but once we kind of got the overall idea, it was quite smooth to deploy.
Support has been good once we are able to get ahold of them, but with the level of plan that we are on, it has sometimes been difficult to get ahold of support or at least someone that could help us with specific questions. I definitely think they could do a better job of explaining what to expect from support on your different levels of service and what options you have, as that's not always super clear.

For domain registration and management I'd recommend it to anyone who has a basic understanding of how registrars work. It's not quite as consumer-friendly as some other solutions out there, but if you know anything about how it all works, it will be much cheaper, more reliable, and far more capable. The Zero Trust product is fairly new, but I think Cloudflare is approaching this concept in a unique way I truly believe they are the leader in the space, and it feels like they are just getting started. Don't expect it to be an overnight deployment, you need to plan it out well and test every aspect of it, but if you can spend the time to architect it the right way, it honestly feels like magic.
