Overall Satisfaction with Conductor Searchlight
Conductor is being used to track the weekly average organic page positions of high priority keywords, the pages that are ranking for those keywords, our competitors organic positions/market share, and whether or not we are meeting our goals. There are several reports that simplify our overall SEO health and which areas/content of our website we need to update. Using Conductor has simplified my job as an analyst in communicating with leadership what challenges we face in terms of gaining new organic traffic as where we have made improvements. Also, the calls I've had with Conductor support have been very valuable and helped guide me where in the reporting I can get the information I need.
- Visually illustrates overall position health for specific groups of keywords in a way that is easy to understand.
- Tracks average page positions for all keywords appearing for specific landing pages so you can know if a specific change helped or hurt your rankings.
- Tracks the market share and page positions of your top competitors so that you have a clear idea what the cause for your loss of page positions are and what pages you need to optimize.
- Platform is easy to use and understand.
- SEO recommendations focus only on metadata improvements and completely neglects other more important factors for SEO health, such as paid load speed, responsive pages, etc.
- Although data pulled from Google Search Console is saved in platform, it cannot easily be manipulated for further analysis beyond average page position, total impressions, total clicks, and CTR.
- CS does not report overall search impressions for keywords, which is another important factor to overall organic traffic. We have had several instances where we were losing traffic not because of declining page positions but because overall interest in certain keywords was declining, and I only discovered this on my own through Google Trends.
- Conductor has helped guide our organization in what content is driving most of our organic traffic and has helped us focus our efforts and only optimize where it will make the biggest difference.
The reports from Conductor have played an important role in determining which parts of our site and what content we need to focus our attention towards updating. Since much of the traffic data is pulled from our Google Analytic, the accuracy depends mostly on determining whether or not your GA account has been setup correctly. I have not had any experience with Conductor data being inaccurate.
Conductor has been very helpful to our content teams in knowing which specific pages are losing rankings and need to be updated, and it has helped our SEO team in measuring whether or not past efforts have been affective, tracking specific changes that were made, and giving us a better idea to how long it takes to see value from changes made.
I still regularly use other SEO platforms along with Conductor, which each have their own unique advantage. I think in terms of overall SEO strategy and measurement of SEO health, Conductor does the best job at providing helpful reports and bringing multiple data sources together to give a bird's eye view of how website SEO is performing against other similar websites.
