Overall Satisfaction with D&B Hoovers

Finding prospects using SIC codes and zip code areas. Verifying company financial status for quoting. Quoting a company five deep, not just the main contact.

Pros

  • Search by sic code, zip code and other categories.
  • Verifies a business using the DNB number.
  • Gives good data - email, phone and job title of prospects.

Cons

  • Navigation - going from the contact view to the search results list view is not good.
  • Sorting search result with a limited options available is not great.
  • Saving lists and finding the most recent one you just created to view again, does not always work properly.
  • Bombora has limited options and takes six months to add new ones related to my business.
  • Save time spent on customer research.
  • Save time on contact prospect finding.
  • Save time on validating company and location data.
  • Increase in outreach activities.
D&B info is good with DNB #s. The data is good for finding company locations and the number of employees at each location. The system is excellent at getting you company information.
The company is not the most accurate at gathering contact information—email address, cell phone, and company phone number. This may be because people change and move a lot, and it is hard to keep up with the database. We do email and phone call campaigns that result in a small % of contacts from the Hoovers list that are accurate.
Zoominfo has more accurate data and better functionality with its navigation tools. But Zoominfo is too expensive for us to use at this time.

It is great for finding more names of companies to contact or for verifying an existing contact. DNB data can also be helpful for verifying company validity and purchasing power. My favorite is the various search options (SIC code, location, business size, etc.) to find the size list you want for prospection.
