Overall Satisfaction with DataMotion Secure Email

Two of us deal with PHI and other sensitive information as we troubleshoot health plan claims & authorization issues, and assist with Medicare coordination.
  • They are a HIPAA business associate.
  • By using separate secure messaging for all sensitive info, I am unlikely to accidentally share PHI or PII via my regular, unencrypted e-mail.
  • Because we use the DataMotion site, there is no need for additional software.
  • The search feature is very limited. I should say essentially useless.
  • Recipients cannot tell when others have been copied.
  • There is no doubt that our risk is reduced when transmitting PHI/PII.
  • We are much more efficient when we can rely on electronic communication rather than being reduced to the transmission of sensitive info by telephone call.
  • DataMotion has never raised its price on us, and we've been clients for 16 years! No doubt, our ROI has been excellent.
We've used a variety of secure messaging systems because we work with various health insurance vendors. DataMotion is more intuitive to use and we know when our messages have been opened.
It is extremely easy for us to use. However, some clients attempting to spontaneously generate messages to us have complained about the difficulty of signing in (I think this is when they don't say they are new users and they try to sign in using other credentials like Google, Apple, etc.).
We have chosen not to integrate it; when we need to transmit info securely, we switch to using DataMotion. That way, we keep our confidential correspondence separate.
When transmitting PHI, PII, sensitive mental health, or other information, our IT department offers nothing like it. It also handles large files well. Plus, our clients can spontaneously generate secure messages to us—a very helpful feature!
