Overall Satisfaction with Dropbox
Our firm uses Dropbox to manage all of our files and data. When I started the company, I was looking for an effective cloud based storage option to keep files safe. As the company has grown, Dropbox has allowed new employees to have instant access to our projects and data, and allows contractors we engage to access specific project folders. It's easy to add users and manage permissions as well. Files sync as fast as the internet connection will allow and we've had no issues in three years of daily use. The mobile application is great as well and allows me to upload photos, scans, etc. from my phone right into the project folder where it's waiting for me on my desktop when I get back to the office.
Pros
- File Sharing
- Cloud Based Storage
- Flexible to fit team size
Cons
- Upload options/file conversion options for mobile devices
- Time based permissions for temporary users
- Zero time lost during zoom calls while we work collaboratively on documents
- Document recovery options have saved 10+ hours of rework
- OneDrive and Google Drive
Dropbox acts more like a regular file storage service which allows my company to use other software as we choose, rather than being coerced into, for example, Google Sheets or syncing through Microsoft Word directly to OneDrive. Those services work fine, but were not what I was looking for in my company.
