Overall Satisfaction with Dropbox

I use Dropbox as the primary shared access point for the design portion of our print magazine's production. It contains all the images and files necessary to create the InDesign and mirror files in InCopy. Dropbox gives notifications of things occurring and weekly updates of what has happened in your Dropbox folder, so it is easy to follow along with what has happened in your absence.

Pros

  • It backs up files.
  • It allows you to be selective when sharing files.
  • It syncs files between devices making them easily accessible from anywhere.

Cons

  • It does not have a user-friendly interface.
  • It has a relatively limited storage capacity compared to other services.
  • It does not work at times unless you make files available offline.
  • It allows for effective offline collaboration for my teammates.
I prefer Google Drive because it is more affordable, has more space, and has a more user-friendly interface.

Do you think Dropbox delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Dropbox's feature set?

Yes

Did Dropbox live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Dropbox go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Dropbox again?

No

I think it is best suited in a collaborative production setting where all files are equally and easily accessible to other team members who may not necessarily always communicate. It takes the guesswork out of things.
