Overall Satisfaction with Dropbox

Transferring files, both to our office and from our office. Maintaining database of thousands of files, accessible to all. Quickly share access to specific files for temporary or permanent users. Addresses the problems of "where is the data" or "what laptop do we open the file in" or "how safe is the data". DropBox solves all of that.

Pros

  • Send a link to quickly share specific files.
  • Be fast enough to open large files from the cloud.
  • Maintain servers of project-specific data, organizing and sharing

Cons

  • Previewing of images on an apple laptop
  • Sometimes access permissions are not clear, new user creating new login is not always clear.
  • Larger files (over 1gig) or complex filing systems do not transfer well by "drag and drop"
  • Saving dollars on complex servers for data
  • Saving dollars on technical support staff
