eSUB - Perfect for Subcontractors
Overall Satisfaction with eSUB Construction Software
eSUB has allowed the company to become more organized by utilizing its features to issue, log and track RFIs, CORs, POs etc. The whole company has used this program to help keep track of multiple projects, budgets and submittals. This program has helped us think more stream lined and efficiently by encouraging file and photo organization. It has proven most useful in tracking projects spanning over several months/years.
Pros
- It is built with subcontractors in mind. There are many PM software available but this one aims at the commercial subcontractor.
- It does a great job covering the basics of typical commercial work. There are areas that allow you to customize such as adding reservations of rights to documents.
- It can integrate with Microsoft quite a bit, we use this in our work every day and being able to export or sync data/calendars has been helpful.
Cons
- We use Microsoft daily for many things, its an essential program for many areas - the more eSUB can integrate with its core programs the more seamless the transition and daily use.
- Its display platform could use a bit more of a face lift. It reminded me of late 2010's web-design or Microsoft visuals.
- Its app functionality struggled in some areas, we tried using it but found there to be some bugs. Although IT was very helpful in response.
- It did well introducing our company to the office management side of construction and how to monitor overheads and budgets.
- It has returned on its investment just based off of the facts that we catch more CORs and time and material work and is able to follow up on it.
- It has made us double down on some of our work with Microsoft such as sending or tracking emails.
Procore has a lot of layers and bells and whistles. eSUB is your meat and potatoes. I found eSUB more suited for our company vs Procore. However, Procore would be more suited to general contractors. eSUB didn't allow as much integration with Microsoft as Procore, but it wasn't significant enough for that to be a deciding factor. I think the difference comes down to what kind of company you are: if you have a lot to manage then maybe Procore if you just need organization, record keeping, budget structuring and get the job done then maybe eSUB.
