Figma Organization

Overall Satisfaction with Figma

Figma is our main design tool--we use it to build prototypes and final designs for web and mobile experiences. I've used it to build complex, comprehensive prototypes of first time user experience for a brand new onboarding flow into a financial product. I've also used it for a variety of conceptual prototypes which we used to help leadership understand which way a product could potentially go. These prototypes were shared widely internally and used in moderated testing.

Pros

  • advanced prototyping
  • complex design systems and libraries
  • remote team collaboration

Cons

  • versioning function could be built out further
  • Figjam has massive room for improvement for whiteboarding and user flows
  • I am certain that my design organization could not have scaled as large as it has without Figma. Nothing else comes close to being as collaboration friendly.
Figma's advanced features regarding components, states, spacing, and prototyping have a fairly steep learning curve (equivalent to many other design tools like video editing or graphic design suites). This is a function of having some very deep controls. I've been using Figma for years and still find myself scratching my head sometimes. Thankfully their help content and the community can usually get me where I need to go.
Figma is the only tool that was build from the ground up for enterprise level distributed teams. If I were a one man shop or even a small team, I would consider Sketch or other cheaper alternatives. For a large enterprise team, the only winner is Figma.

Do you think Figma delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Figma's feature set?

Yes

Did Figma live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Figma go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Figma again?

Yes

Figma is great for high fidelity prototyping across distributed teams, as well as final design handoff to developers. It supports all the common web and mobile prototyping needs, has excellent sharability with colleagues and for the purposes of testing. It's less appropriate for low fidelity wireframing, user flows, etc
