Reliable and flexible for scheduling and planning
Overall Satisfaction with Google Calendar
We use Google Calendar as the shared staff calendar to keep tabs on all the things happening in our church - this calendar is then translated over to a website calendar for the congregation. Each of the staff also uses a personal Google Calendar that the others are subscribed to, so we can view everyone's week at a glance.
Pros
- Scheduling
- Meetings
- Time management
- Shared resources
Cons
- iCal feed can be inconsistent.
- I prefer desktop interface to the App interface.
- Month view could be more interactive.
- Google Calendar has simplified our main calendar schedule.
- Google Calendar has allowed for multiple folks to participate in planning.
- Google Calendar syncs between all of our various devices, bringing consistency.
There are a lot of overlapping similarities between iCal and Google Calendar, which made it difficult to land on one at first. Ultimately, since we have some folks in Apple environments and some in Microsoft environments, Google was the best option to bridge those workspaces. Google Calendar is a little bit more user-friendly than Microsoft Planner or Outlook and is a bit more versatile than iCal in its features across devices.
