Overall Satisfaction with Google Vault
We use Google Vault for information governance and eDiscovery. It allows us to retain, hold, search, and export users’ Google Workspace data (which includes Gmail messages, drive files, Google Meet recording, polls logs, and Google Sites). It's super useful when employees leave or when someone is changing their name and wants to use a new Google login while retaining data from the old account.
- Holds Google Workspace data
- Allows searching through retained files and data
- Easy data export
- More export options are available to the user, specifically allowing exported data to be imported into a new account easily
- The interface is very basic and easy to use, but the dashboard could show more information to make it more usable
- Create custom roles for Google Vault
- Use advanced search filters to make it easier to find the right data
- Turn on comprehensive mail storage
- Put important data on hold so it never gets deleted
- Retaining data
- Legal hold
- Audit
Proofpoint Enterprise was difficult to initially deploy while Google Vault was straightforward and easy to use from the get-go. Proofpoint Enterprise base eDiscovery product does not include case management and is an add-on and an additional cost which is not the case with the Google Vault. Great indexing, search and retrieval capabilities are similar in both tools.
