Overall Satisfaction with GoToMeeting

GoToMeeting was used at bepress specifically by my department, Marketing, and our adjacent department, Sales. The rest of the company used Hangouts primarily, I believe, but Sales preferred using GoToMeeting for it's recording functionality which was essential for them to share and archive their product demos. Since they developed familiarity using the software we ended up using it for internal team meetings as well, despite Hangouts being probably better suited to this use.
  • The Record feature is why we selected it!
  • Lots of access/permissions controls
  • Navigating shared PINs can be challenging, there's not a great scheduling interface or double-booking alerts available.
  • Not all external users have experience, can require a bit of support for folks joining your room.
  • It's obviously incredibly valuable to have meetings remotely, especially with a distributed sales team, but I'm not sure GoToMeeting does this better than the competition.
  • Recording our sales calls was very useful, but if we started over from scratch I suspect we'd end up using Skype instead.
We selected GoToMeeting for its recording capabilities, but Skype now offers the same functionality without the cluttered/confusing GoToMeeting UI, and with a good degree of user competency from folks using it in their personal lives. Compared to the competition, GoToMeeting looks and feels a lot like software stuck in the early 2000s
Performance was usually great, not many bugs or issues that'd require support. Most of the issues with GoToMeeting arise from user confusion around meeting PIN's or navigating the interface.

Do you think GoTo Meeting delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with GoTo Meeting's feature set?

Yes

Did GoTo Meeting live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of GoTo Meeting go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy GoTo Meeting again?

No

GoToMeeting is a decent enough solution for professional contexts where recording your calls is important. I think it's hard to see as more desirable when compared to other solutions that folks have experience using from their personal lives (Hangouts, Facetime, Skype, etc), which also all have more user friendly UIs.
