Use Cases and Deployment Scope

When my organization or a client needs a way to speak to one another or conference from around the world, I typically recommend GoToMeeting as a premier service. This is if they are looking for a long-term solution. GoToMeeting gives users the ability to speak clearly, it's reliable, and it's easy to use, which solves the problem of learning new technology.

Skype for Business (formerly Lync)

Skype is great to use, but it’s also somewhat difficult to get configured properly. Skype for Business has a lot of security features to consider. GoToMeeting is very straightforward. I like using both. In terms of cost, Skype for Business is a lot cheaper because it comes with Office 365 licenses.

Likelihood to Recommend

GoToMeeting is great if you have a large team, and you’re always needing to be in touch. If you don’t speak to clients on a daily basis, either that’s biweekly or monthly, then GoToMeeting sounds too expensive. If you do not need to use such a quality service, then chances are you will find a more affordable outlet online.
