Overall Satisfaction with Gusto

As a startup employee who’s had the chance to use Gusto in two different start-ups now, it stands out for its user-friendly interface. The setup process is straightforward, which is crucial for a fast-paced startup environment. It’s easy to navigate, even for those of us who aren’t HR experts.

Gusto presents the Payroll and benefits sections in a way that is super simple and intuitive. Overall, Gusto has been a good platform in handling our HR needs efficiently. If you’re considering it for your startup or small business, I’d definitely recommend giving it a try!

Pros

  • I like that I can see when my check is coming in and exactly what the breakdown of categories look like
  • I like the little pig that shows up on the loading screen - it adds a fun and friendly vibe
  • The UX is super simple and clean - about 1000000 times better than something like ADP which can be a total nightmare to just login to and find stuff

Cons

  • I have not used the Reimbursement feature yet, but would be curious to see if it holds up to similar competitors or something like Expensify
  • It's nice for a small company rather than onboarding some big bulky provider
  • It helps new employees onboard easily
  • It gives a good impression to new employees because it's also typically one of the first platforms they interact with when setting up their direct deposit and Gusto profiles
Gusto is incredibly easy to use and genuinely intuitive from a user’s perspective. The platform’s design is sleek and straightforward, making navigation a breeze. Even if you're not an HR specialist, you’ll find that everything is well-organized and accessible. The user interface is crafted to ensure that every step—from Payroll processing to benefits management—is easy. Overall, Gusto’s user-friendly nature is hard to beat.
In my opinion, ADP is a nightmare by comparison. Awful to onboard, awful to use - even logging in can be a total nightmare. One time I had to call some hotline just to be able to login because it kept going in loops and wouldn't let me in my account. The error was on their side, but the onus was on the user and employee to have to remedy that and take time out of my workday to call ADP. Awful.

Rippling is a bit better, but Gusto is still the top for me.

Do you think Gusto delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Gusto's feature set?

Yes

Did Gusto live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Gusto go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Gusto again?

Yes

Small start-up companies especially can benefit from it. I like the transparency it offers, the UX is really intuitive and simple, and I am also a fan of the little loading pig graphic :)

I've had the chance to use it twice and when I switch jobs and see what other HR portals look like (ahem, ADP) I immediately think back to Gusto and how much nicer it was to use it and have everything just be seamless and friendly.
